Oh, that would be a heatwave here! I'm not sure we got above zero today. Windchills definitely were in the 20 below zero range.

I see talk of more snow Friday into Saturday, looks like the worst is going to be south of us though.

It's not Siberia, just Minnesota!

Highs were in the 30s (F) and it was windy with a light overcast. Still, the sunsets have already hit their earliest and are have edged up a minute. Can spring be far behind?

I thought the winter solstice will be Dec 21. Why would your day lengths be changing now?

Only 6 below right now. All that nasty snow should stay pretty much south of us so it's a good day!

The solstice is the shortest day, but the sunsets and sunrises aren't "symetrical" for want of a better word. There's a good explanation at Earthsky.org:

St Louis roads are nothing but sheets of ice. Accidents everywhere. School buses stuck everywhere. Several have crash. MODot really drop the ball. The schools did not let out early. Roads are at a standstill.

My friends daughter bus crashed. Her husband is currently walking the three children home because his car couldn't make it down their road. This is a mess. My brother is stuck in traffic, trying to get home.

I should update it was tons of kids stuck at different schools for the night. People stuck on the highway all night. It's warm up to 38 so the ice should be melting. So many accidents with a few fatalities.

My friend got her family home around 10 last night. No word on my brother. I'm sure he is home by now. My aunt was stuck but mange to find a motel to wait it out. It was a long night here in St Louis.

Woke up to a glaze of ice ... apparently there were around 500 wrecks last night & this morning -- waiting for the temps to rise & melt it off. Then into the 70's F tomorrow ..

Sameish down here. Ice got here around 10pm last night and lasted longer than the weathermen expected. Warning just expired at 11am. Car is glazed over but roads seem to be alright now. High of 53 expected with more rain.

MODot is telling everyone to stay off the roads till Monday. Another Flash Freeze is expected this afternoon. They say salt doesn't work in extreme cold. I didn't think this was extreme cold.

I sent hubby out for emergency supplies. We have our 4 wheel drive but if they close the roads we need to be prepared.
