Fly Away Blackbird by Jerrard Tickell

When Nicola first arrives in London, she is only eleven years old, just off a children's Famine Train from Austria, and plastered with tags and labels identifying who she is.

She refers to herself as "an ex-enemy" of England - her father, left behind, is a colonel who served with the Hussars - and awaits someone to come and take charge of her in this strange new city.

When Kathleen Conroy arrives at Victoria Station to pick Nicola up, she doesn't come alone - her nephew, Peter, accompanies her.

For Nicola, the romance of life seems to begin from the very moment that Peter Conroy, nineteen, Irish, and adventurous, finds her on the platform.

For Peter, meeting the young Austrian girl marks the beginning of the rest of his life; fired from his job, he sets out to see the world and, in the process, discovers the real thrill of living.

Years later, Peter and Nicola are reunited, and come to see each other in a new light.

Nicola, grown into a beautiful and thoughtful young woman, immediately captures Peter's attention, while in return, Nicola senses in Peter something that none of her other beaux have been able to offer.

Undiminished by years of separation, Peter and Nicola rekindle their love in the face of impossible odds.

Jerrard Tickell's books, a number of which have been made into successful movies, include Moon Squadron, Island Rescue, and Hussar Honeymoon.

I just purchased a 99 cent ebook from Harlequin and it gave me 2100 points! I don't know what kind of promo thing it is but I saw it in one of those newsletters about daily ebook deals. It's called Carrying The King's Pride by Jennifer Hayward. Description sounded good and it's only 99 cents. Score!

Free, Rough Stock - Dahlia West, Book 1 of Star Valley series

Blurb: Welcome to Star Valley, a beautiful yet brutal landscape nestled at the foot of the Grand Tetons, where the Barlows have lived off the land for more than one hundred years.

They've fallen on hard times, though, and their survival is in doubt. Bankruptcy looms as dark as the storm clouds that are gathering. All five Barlow sons have gathered at the Snake River Ranch in a last ditch effort to preserve their family's legacy. As it was a hundred years ago, the mountains will decide their fate.

The last place on Earth ex-barrel racer Rowan Archer wants to be is back in these foothills, where a Barlow broke her heart. But her family's fallen on hard times as well, and hard times breed hard choices.

She wants to run away, back to Cheyenne, back to safety, but she can't, and it wouldn't do any good anyway. No matter how far she gets, she's got a daily reminder of her painful past with soulful brown eyes, a gap-toothed grin, and questions about how her daddy got "lost."

Rowan is determined to protect her daughter from the heartache she suffered and she'll hold off the entire Barlow family with a rifle and a pack of vicious guard dogs if she has to.

No Barlow will set foot on her family's ranch, not cheating Court who abandoned her years ago, not even his soft-spoken older brother Seth who comes to plead his wild younger brother's case.

But Rowan's heart is as hard as the mountains that shelter them all and she vows that she'll never make the same mistake again.

Really good series (I'm a Michaels fan). Just FYI, the actual series is a total of seven books.

Anyone on Facebook? Sarah MacLean has started a book club for old school romances. I just joined when it showed up in my news feed. There are growing quickly like 4000+ members. Even though it's for old school all romances are talked about. It's like being around thousands of kindred spirits.

Each month they choose an old school romance to read. This month's it's These Old Shades. I don't normally do this sort of thing but I love old romances. It's a busy group and seems like fun!

You can PM me for a link or just find MacLean on Facebook if interested.

Thanks. I was wondering if they were still doing this promo. Someone read it in that group I posted about earlier and really liked it.

I think we've discussed this before, but can't remember for sure. Do Harlequin free book codes expire? I used one I got in January last night and it worked fine, but saw that I have three more from that time and wanted to make sure they don't expire in a year or something. I don't seem to be using them very fast (also still have over 34,000 points built up)

Also are codes locked to the account that redeemed them or can I give one or two away?

No, codes do not expire. If you come across one that doesn't work and you know you haven't used it, just email them. They will either give you a new code or just restore the 2000 points to your account so you can get a new one.

This I do not know. I would imagine the codes aren't specifically tied to an account because of the programming involved. I mean when they first started issuing codes, they were given in simple numerical order. The codes have since become more complicated, so maybe it's simple to tie them to a specific account.

I also think it would against the terms & conditions of the program for someone else to use your code.

Thanks for letting us know. Took me forever to find it. I am so lost on facebook. I can't figure anything out there. Still pending, but I know I have tried to figure out a group before. Some romance group and couldn't figure out how to read it. I mean is it just like a endless confusing feed with comments within comments? Really tough to find my way around. Its not laid out like a forum so not sure if I am missing stuff. I guess I just have to keep scrolling down and hope to find where a actual discussion is going on?

I'll see if I can figure it out if I get approved for it. The romance group I found a while back was suppose to be a group for romance readers and all I could see was large book covers of book pimping by authors. I could never find where the discussions were. Didn't look like there were readers there, or really anyone other than endless "buy my book" pictures.
