Dragonshadow by Barbara Hambly is currently 99c in the US
This is the second book in the series and is published by Del Rey and gets some mixed reviews

Synopsis

Lord John Aversin--with the help of his mageborn wife, Jenny Waynest-- has fought and defeated two dragons, earning the title of Dragonsbane. But there are creatures more terrifying than dragons. Demonspawn from a dark dimension have learned to drink the magic--and the souls--of mages and dragons alike, turning their victims into empty vessels. And now they've stolen John and Jenny's mageborn son, twelve-year-old Ian.

In desperation, John seeks the help of the eldest and strongest dragon: Morkeleb the Black. But the demons have allies, too: a vast army poised to plunge the Realm into civil war. In the coming struggle, Morkeleb will sacrifice what he values most. Jenny will question everything she trusts and believes in. And John will embark on a perilous quest for the only things capable of defeating such powerful demons--even more powerful demons . . .

Difficulties in Hambly's personal life came to a head around the time she wrote these Winterlands books, and it shows in her characters' experiences in this book. Small-to-middling spoiler about those difficulties and how they map onto the book:
Spoiler:
Hambly was married to SF author George Alec Effinger, whose struggles with drug addiction obviously influenced her depiction of demonic possession.
Some of the mixed reviews reflect how much bleaker this book is than much of her work.

I enjoyed the new trilogy, but I took years to steel myself to read it. This book doesn't leave off at a good stand-alone point.

Open Road Media backlist blowout

Open Road's slashed a ton of their backlist books to FREE on Amazon through the 21st. The US list, limited to SFF, is here, sorted by price.

Highlights for me include most of John DeChancie's "Castle Perilous" series (all but book 9) and James A. Gardner's "League of Peoples" (books 3-7), but there's also a big swath of Harlan Ellison and some Tim Zahn on there - and that's just the tip of a big iceberg.

Quite a few promising books there. Some I have not seen in years. Thanks!

It looks like Amazon cuts the list off at 20 pages. To see more, I changed the search to just "Open Road Media" and then used the links in the menu to the left to filter results. When I filter on "fantasy", I then start seeing books at about page 12 that didn't make Rev. Bob's list.

There's easily as many books here as you get from the Baen CDs.

Yeah, I read lots more than sci-fi/fantasy, so I just searched "Open Road Media" and scrolled through with no filter until I hit the 20 page mark. I think I'll have to go through the individual filters and see what I can find.

This link goes to 33 pages and have the buy now link so you don't have to click for the Kindle version and then click to buy. Much easier and more books.
