It's like apple butter, a fruit puree cooked down with sugar and spices until it's very thick.
I bought it at a supermarket (Trader Joe's). They have pumpkin butter also.
When I lived in Indiana I was able to buy cherry butter at a local orchard.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I don't think it's sold over here after a quick google (the only hits I can see are for body ointments). I'll keep looking though, because it does sound good.

It's not common here. Most supermarkets only have the apple butter.
