Just finished "Elantris", by Brandon Sanderson - an excellent fantasy novel.

For a complete change, I'm now reading "Think On My Words - Exploring Shakespeare's English" by David Crystal, a book which, as its title says, is an exploration of Shakespeare's use of the English language, and a fascinating read. David Crystal is the author of many books about language (he's the author, for example, of the "Cambridge Encyclopaedia of the English Language") and is always a good read.

He is a good read. I just got his "The Story of English in 100 Words". It's next on my TBR list.

I went to a lecture given by him last year in Stratford-on-Avon; he's an excellent speaker as well as a good writer.

My son left some books for me when he was last here. Maybe, Cemetery Dance by Preston & Child? They all seem to have so-so reviews. I hate to start something new when I haven't finished my other books and nothing in the book case sounds good for a reread.
FYI dreams, since the Kindle's USB port is [SARCASM]conveniently located on the bottom of the device so that resting the Kindle on any part of your body while charging is sure to eventually damage the cord,[/SARCASM] I bought this USB cord with a right angle micro connector from Amazon to allow me to read while it's charging without putting undue stress on the cord.

I also bought a USB extension cord to allow me to get further from the outlet while reading. The two work well together.

Luckily, I don't usually have both needing a charge at the same time and can usually read on one while the other is charging. This time I had to charge both at the same time.

I have a 5 foot cord and the power adapter that works well, but the right angle of that one looks nice for holding it to read. Thanks.

I'm excited that I found 3 or 4 Lawrence Block Burglar books in my book case. I thought I had sold them all. I'm really enjoying the reread.

Wowzers [Inspector Gadget]!! Midnight Come Again was a powerful book! The events in the previous book in the Kate Shugak series, Hunter's Moon served as the set-up for Kate's state-of-mind throughout most of Midnight Come Again.

For Father's Day my daughter sent me a gift of the entire Harry Potter series from Pottermore! Sometime in the next 6 months I'll probably re-read the series as I always enjoy being immersed in the Potterverse for a while. My wife got me a gift card for Amazon (always useful) and my son got me a Kindle book I'd never heard of, Guild Wars: Ghosts of Ascalon by Jeff Grubb & Matt Forbeck. He says it's a fantasy novel based on a computer game (no wonder I've never heard if it or the Authors). Anyway I'm starting it next.

Death's Angels by William King-

"In a world of magic and gunpowder, the half-breed Rik must rise from simple soldier to the deadliest assassin the world has ever known.

In Death's Angels, Rik and his fellow soldiers of the Seventh Infantry uncover a sinister conspiracy to waken an ancient slumbering evil. They encounter the lovely and terrible Lady Asea, immortal sorceress and ultimate manipulator of men and nations. Their deadly quest will eventually take them to the haunted city of the cannibalistic Spider God to face the hidden peril lurking there.

Death's Angels is a thrilling tale of muskets and magic blending Lovecraftian horror with adventure in the tradition of Sharpe by the bestselling creator of Gotrek and Felix."

Listening to the 2nd Sandman Slim (Kill The Dead) on my morning commutes. I *really* thought I'd read this book, but if I did I'm forgetting a lot. It's a fun listen though. The narrator really gets the characters.

Finished reading Kill My Darling, by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. This is the latest Bill Slider mystery, and I enjoyed it a lot. Yes, I knew who did what to whom, and how, by the half-way point or so, but her writing is still a pleasure. Lots of funny bits and well turned phrasings throughout. 5 out of 5.

Started reading Tinker, by Wen Spencer. I had read this when it first released, but with the new one in the series Elfhome out as part of the July bundle, I couldn't resist going back through this delightfully unrealistic guilty pleasure.

Finished Tinker, moving right on to the second one, Wolf Who Rules. I enjoyed Tinker a lot, it was as good as I remembered it. A bit of romance, a bit of urban fantasy, a bit of brainy female protagonist. Hard to go wrong. Highly recommended if you enjoy a bit of all of those.

Now that I've finished A Gathering of Gargoyles, I am well and truly caught by this wonderful science-fantasy. Middle books in trilogies tend to sag a bit--but not this one! It has a marvelous cast of characters and some great twists.

I'll be going to The Pearl of the Soul of the World next.

James Herbert, 'Nobody True'

OK, I am very late to this book but I did start this three years ago and got half way through it, so now I'm going back and starting afresh!

It's very freaky so far though...don't think it's bedtime reading! lol
