Agreed. And we'll take care of that as soon as all the cats are herded into the corral.

Amen to that! So far, Backlist Ebooks is the only venture of its kind that I know of, IOW the only dedicated showcase of author-published out-of-print titles that isn't also a sales venue (we provide links to the sales venues). A Writer's Work and Book View Cafe are the other two entities that were on the panel at Ninc. They're terrific, visionary ventures, but different from us in that they perform some e-publishing functions and sell books right off the sites.

So far, Backlist Ebooks has 36 authors of all genres (we just snagged our first horror author, Kevin J. Anderson), with a bunch more in the pipeline and new author queries every day. If you'd told me just a month ago that it would take off with such velocity, I wouldn't have believed you.

Oh, and it's worth noting that there was much articulate anti-DRM noise during the NINC conference, not just from Joe Konrath, but from several savvy inudstry professionals.

Doranna, I 'm going to echo Jon here. I was thisclose to buying a Nook when I got my Sony 600. Since I got it, I've been really, really glad I went that direction. The 650 is a ton better than my 600 (new screen technologies), so I'd highly recommend adding it to your decision making process.

I'm one of the participating authors, and I'll be featuring the first three volumes of The Chaos Chronicles. Yeah, I've had them up for free for two years. But right now I'm working hard on new afterwords--reflections on the series, and how I went about writing the books. A little added value that I want to add to the books in time for the sale! (But if you buy the books without the afterwords, don't worry. You can just redownload them once the revised versions are up.)

I've just uploaded new versions of my first three Chaos Chronicles books, with all-new Afterwords in which I talk about the writing of the series. These Afterwords are exclusive to the Smashwords editions (25% off right now with the coupons you can find on the Backlistebooks site) and the revised Kindle editions that will go up shortly.

Check out the sale--it looks good!

BTW, if you happen to have bought these editions before now, you should be able to redownload them without charge. If you have trouble, let me know.

Thought you might want to know that the discount code for Jeffrey Carver's Strange Attractors on BACKLISTEBOOKS.COM didn't work on Smashwords. The codes for Neptune Crossing and The Infinite Sea worked fine.

Yikes. I'll check that out right away. Thanks for the heads-up!

EDIT: Well, it looks like I screwed up on that somehow. Anyway, here's a new coupon for Strange Attractors: FU64M

Thanks for telling me!

Based on what I've seen so far, Calibre does a decent job converting PDFs.
