I would really like another update... It's 72 hours approx, since Katti was operated on, and we know the op went well... I do understand that the MOTH doesn't have time to tell us, what's happening... Thinking of you Katti and I'm sending you healing wibes and hugs.. Get well soon. |

My wife has been moved from ICU to a normal ward on Saturday afternoon. She appears to be relatively pain free (of course the head hurts a bit, they cut it open after all). Healthwise she is doing ok but mentally not so much. There are some side effects of the surgery. She has been assessed this morning by the doctors: she is currently experiencing difficulty speaking, appears to have slowed thinking and comprehension problems. She is easily distracted. It also appears that she has suffered some memory loss in the language area - which makes communication a little bit difficult at this moment. The doctors expect that these symptoms are short term only and that she will make a full recovery in time. Of course they are not defining 'time' so we don't know how long it will take. As the healing appears to be progressing well they expect to let her go home by the end of this week. I gave her all your best wishes and thoughts and she was very moved by them all and thanks you very much. At the moment she is not allowed near a computer as they worry that it would strain her too much. Although I expect her switching the thing on as soon as she gets home. She cannot use her reader but I have given her some books. I do not feel comfortably exposing her health in public but she did ask me to keep you posted. And I promised to do so including telling you my view (wish I hadn't promised that): She does look well. She is already reducing pain medication and is very grumpy as she has been without a smoke since Thursday night. Her speech is very slow and deliberate and at times it appears that she has to think very hard to find a word. I have to repeat some of my comments and explain some of them. Her mind wanders easily and jumps from subject to subject. She certainly is not the woman that went into hospital but I expect her to come back to that in time. If all goes well, I won't be updating this thread anymore and the next post will be from her. Again, on behalf of Kat and myself: thank you all for your well wishes and thoughts. |
