I picked up a $5 red fuzzy zip up cloth pencil case from Officeworks (in oz) that I'm using as a protection sleeve when my kobo's in my bag until some proper stock becomes available in Oz - it's kinda retro and the fuzz acts as a foam insert would

Hmmm... I wonder if a neoprene sleeve for a netbook would work...

Bought one of these in a smiggle store in australia, $14.95, in black to match the reader. You would have to take the reader out to use it, but in a bag it would give more protection than one of those soft slip in covers. Sizewise it's as if it was made for the kobo, it has a pouch inside that the kobo slips into, I would reccomend it and it's not expensive.

I'm in Australia and I really want a case but I don't fancy spending money and waiting for shipping when they'll probably be selling proper cases at Borders by the time the damn things arrives. This looks like it might be a nice "cover" to use for the time being. Are you able to post photos of how it fits?

I wonder if the covers for the Cybook would fit the Kobo (https://www.dadirect.com/books/detail.asp?isbn=P5420869). They are both essentially the same unit (size and button layout). Food for thought possibly (I don't have a Kobo so I can't verify sorry).

Awesome! I bought myself a pencil case from Target ($3) that I use as a case for my Sony Reader, but it's a smidge too small (the reader just barely fits). Your case looks perfect, good find!

Talking DVD Case = Perfect Kobo Case!

I was inspired by previous posters who modified DVD cases to make their Kobo a home. I personally like the idea of DIY rather then waiting around for something to purchase, and I even had a white DVD case that I knew would look just smashing as a hard case for my baby. It was really easy to do too (resulting in only one minor laceration), with basic tools, I just used an x-acto knife to cut parts away.

One tip: Slide some cardboard (I used an old Rasinettes box lol) between the back of the case and the clear plastic cover before you start cutting, this will keep you from cutting the clear plastic when you cut through the back plastic of the case.

Pictures, for anyone interested...

This is my one that I got from a trademe seller in New Zealand, FANTASTIC, totally sets my mind at ease as I carry my book Everywhere, nice soft leather, a space for the re-charge cord and I got the red one to match my bed linen - trademe.co.nz with the listing number should show the picture of it as-can't see it but I will try to copy and paste again as this is one hell Ebook protector...

I just bought one of the Smiggle cases and took photos for anyone that's interested https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87155

Those hand made cases from NZ might be an idea though. Would love photos when you get a chance

Expensive but PERFECT!

I'm a n00b on this forum, but ever since I got my Kobo I've been keeping my eye on this thread in hopes it would help me find a good case.

Then I found one on my own, so I figured I'd share

But first I have to say that this case was expensive... perhaps too expensive...
After I ordered it I felt a little remorse, but now that I have it and there's no "official" case out yet (not counting that sleeve), I'm so happy that I have it!

In looking for a case that fits, I found out that the Coolreaders Cool-ER reader has almost exactly the same dimensions as the Kobo. It's literally just one or two millimeters off on each side. Then I found this:
http://www.noreve.com/category/Ebook...Tradition.html

It's from a site called NoReve.com. They're a French leather-case manufacturer. What's cool about them is that they can custom make your case in a number of different coloured leathers, and in a number of different finishes. Anyway, I chose their "Traditions" case for the Cool-ER in the "Ebony" finish, and it's classssy.

PROS:
- Fits perfectly.
- The openings in the case perfectly suit the Kobo (SD card, USB port, Power Button) -- I guess the Kobo and Cool-ER are made by the same hardware manufacturer.
- It has a "kick stand" on the back if you want to stand your Kobo up. The stand is magnetic, so when you're not using it, it "sticks" flush to the back.
- It has pockets on the inside front cover. If you're travelling, you can put your passport/ID here.
- Awesome quality! Genuine leather... probably nicer than most cases you'd find on eBay.

CONS:
- I had mine custom made with a different finish, so it took exactly 20 business days (28 actual days) to get to me in Toronto (it's manufactured and shipped from France). For custom cases, they advertise delivery in "15-20 business days" to Ontario (and probably most parts of Canada). I should note that they also advertise shipping in 2-3 business days worldwide for any items that are NOT custom made (and in stock... these are usually the black, "normal"-finish leather variation.)
- The price. I'm almost embarassed to say how much I paid... lol. But none of you know me so...
It cost me C$58.62 + C$19.43 for shipping = $70.42
I know... that's almost half the price of the damn reader, and I'm sure I'll get a few replies telling me how silly I am. What can I say, I was on a hunt for the perfect case! I wanted something that was "official" quality, and was tired of waiting for Kobo to release one.
But the bright side is that I think I found the perfect one!
I should also point out that that's actually a discounted price. I used a coupon code:
generationmp3
This got me %15 off my entire order. Had I not used it, it would have been more expensive.

SO, given the price, it's probably not for most people. But if you're indulgent/impulsive like me, or really want to customize your case... then, you're welcome lol

I've posted some pics of the fit and features too (sorry, I was forced to use a crappy camera). My Kobo is white with a custom gelaskin on it, but this case would probably look better with a black Kobo.

My apologies for the long post!

I hope you (meaning you who are looking at what's not proper cases) know that most of what you are looking at are not cases but sleeves. A proper case is what vr0oM linked.

Sorry, but someone is going to drop the Kobo without a case and break the screen. A sleeve is rather a waste of money.
