I've been thinking about going with Dell XT2. Instead of complementing my current gear, just cut my laptop and e-reader out of the picture. I'd need a complementary desktop to get my gaming back, but that's always been the case no matter how long I've been lying to myself.

For about $900(maybe even cheaper) for something that's "supposed" to be on par with the x200, it doesn't seem all that bad.

That would blow the crappy iPad toy out of the water.
I could actually see two screen being a killer device for college and high school students. Textbooks aren't getting any cheaper and if someone could get all the majors on board at a decent price (not sure if ipad did), you'd have a screen for books and another for note taking aside from highlighting your book. Textbook makers aren't getting a cut of resale books, so lowering the price of books(that you can't resale) help blows up the sales of e-textbooks. This is instead of selling them at $150 price tags.

I'd imagine one screen could be Capacitive and the other Resistive and you could flip it depending on what handed you are. Also if it had a better folding mechanic you could say, use it like how these tablet/laptops work. Or better yet pop the screens apart. Two people could have it where one can draw or write, while the other reads a book or surf the net. Wait, did I just turn the courior into the edge thingy out there?

€600, so a pretty decent price for the spec.

Mrkarl, what machine is it in your pictures and more importantly how well does cdex work with the touchscreen since that is the main thing I would want a tablet for tbh.

After having seen the asus and considered the weight of it, it seems a very nice little machine, but I am now very tempted by the acer aspire 1825ptz which offers a larger screen and avoids using an atom cpu.

I've got the Acer 1420p which is basically the same thing with a slower cpu and resistive screen but the same design. It's a nice device, well worth it over the slower atoms if you need the extra juice.

How do you find the weight of your machine when using it as a tablet, with the news that the best comic book reader app on the ipad has just got banned I am a lot less interested in apple's new toy even when they decide to release it over here in europe.

It's fairly heavy, you wouldn't want to hold it in one hand for too long. I mostly read comics and magazines on it and for those I'm very happy with it since I'm usually sat with it resting against my leg or the sofa.

I too had been looking at the ipad but I've never been keen on Apple's behaviour where apps are concerned. I'm happy to trade off the weight for a full operating system and whatever software I require.

Comics are definitely the prime consideration for me, the size of my sony reader is just perfect for novels already.

I have the asus.....I use cdisplay for reading the comics. using windows 'flicks' the pages turn quite alright, not absolutely perfect but still very good. It gets better as I get used to it also. But yeah, it's great for reading comics, and it's very light....

The Dell Outlet store has some pretty decent deals on them. Being a One Note junkie, I figure it's better to take it up a notch. Enjoy touching with a finger and stylus.

Just waiting for another awesome coupon to pop. Like the last 20% one.

Not only that you get a machine with a considerable better performance than any netbook can give you.

ComicRack is worth a try since you can turn pages by touching in the corners. You can use flicks too but I find them a bit annoying after a while.

Chris, and anyone else who goes the HP Touchsmart t2 route or another tablet:

There is a wonderful forum called, TabletPCReview.com

Here's a thread just for the HP Touchsmart tm2

I've learnt alot, especially for the HP, but anyone thinking of this option as a dedicated ereader could find alot of their questions answered here

here is a link for all the brands that they discuss.

Hope this helps someone!

Hi mrkarl,

The photos you shared....is that a T91MT? looks good
If I didn't need a full out new computer, I'd go that route and buy one. Nice and light and does the job!
