TV shows via BT is one of those "it's technically illegally, but nobody cares" things. It's not like downloading movies, or even eBooks, which are "commercial" things.

KK I don't actually know all the details as it is just something I'm only beginning to investigate. hulu.com is one site that I saw that really got me seriously thinking about it.

I'd love to here about options/possibilities myself.

Googling for "eztv rss guide" is a great way to get your bittorrent client configured to automatically download the shows you want.

At which point you might want to consider a media-center PC or UPnP/DLNA device to view the content on your tv. I use a Popcorn Hour A100, but there are lots and lots of devices on the market for sub $200 to do this.

I also use PlayOn to stream Hulu to my PS3, so I can watch episodes of shows that I don't normally download and have simply missed.

The daily show and colbert report are free online legally. Alot of other shows are free online via Hulu. Amazon Unbox, XBox 360, iTunes all also sell a subscription to a TV shows... When you watch on Hulu or CBS/Fox/etc web site it usually has ads which makes it free.

There are also $100ish (one time purchase) devices like the new boxie box or Roku box which also you to watch a lot of content that is online for free on your big screen TV rather than your PC monitor.

But, even if I buy the one or two shows that I can get OTA (which means over the air with an antenna) then I will still come out ahead cash wise.

Explain what? How to get TV shows with an antenna? That is pretty simple and very free. Also, pretty much the best quality HD you can get (not counting blu-ray.)

Or, are you talking about how to get those shows that are not on free network/broadcast OTA (over the air) stuff?

Or are you asking about Windows Media Center vs TiVo?
