Have you checked with Sony Support. What is happening? Why can't you get in? Did the software not install properly? Does it crash? Can't connect to store? A lot of unknowns.

There are many places to purchase or download epub books including libraries.

Appreciate the links. Perfect. As for what error I am getting-all I get is an error saying I am unable to connecto to the ebook store, check my internet connection. Pretty nondescript and useless as there is obviously nothing wrong with my connection since I was able to get right in to the store immediately after downloading the new software and ever since that first time, no go. Could only do it once and then never again. And yes, I have emailed support. Awaiting there response.

Thanks again.

Alright I'm having an issue now. I just bought a book, but when it went to put it in my library I got an error, something about Adobe. I did get an email last night from Sony stating they gave me an Adobe account, but it did not sound like I have to do anything.

I'm going to go check the FAQs now, but if anyone has an idea let me know.

So you must not have had Adobe DE installed already? You might have to install it. I already had it installed and had an ID (for use with library and other epub books) and didn't have to do anything.

That's just weird. are you on Vista? Did you add the exception for the application as mentioned above? Seems like it might be a firewall thing blocking the app.

Nope, didn't have DE installed.

Ok checked answers, and there was nothing (but I did confirm I had to do nothing with the Adobe ID). So with the download still not done (in the status area), I closed the Library. Then I reopened it, and the task was gone but the item wasn't downloaded. I resigned into my account, and then clicked to download the book et voila! It works.

Now, for the real thing, did anyone else notice the Periodicals section???? I've been looking at the store for two days and I JUST NOTICED THAT!

Going to check it out now..

Suggestions?
Copy your ebook files from the Sony Reader to your desktop or to a USB drive for safe storage until you know everything will be ok.

Can I actually copy all of my books on my desktop to a USB then plug it into my netbook then import all of the files?

Honest question. I have never tried.

It does sound like a firewall problem

The installation process should make an entry in your firewall to allow access to executable "C:\Program Files\Sony\Reader\Data\bin\Reader Library.exe"

What is it you have running on Win 7 when it starts? Also, what is your UAC set to? On the Win 7 system it is set to default and Reader Library works fine.

P.S. We do not have any software firewall running and the AV that's running on the Win 7 system is Comodo and the Defender thingy that is part of Win 7 is off.

Honest question. I have never tried.
If I understand your question, this what I do (and have done): I always have a backup of my LRX titles (Sony titles) on another hard drive, just for redundancy purposes.

Whenvever the need has arisen to do a reset, or when things "aren't working right," I delete all the folders from my Sony Reader.

Then, because I use the Sync feature and because my Library on my computer is still uncompromized (still working), I connect the Reader to the computer and the Syncing process starts. This way, all my folder names and the books in those folders is exactly duplicated.

Again, the only reason for the redundancy on the extra hard drive is just in case something happens to all those books I've purchased over the past two + years.

Actually, I just want to move all my files from one computer to the other, and I'm too lazy to redownload them all.
