Boxing Day is usually the day all my family gets together at Christmas (although not this year, which will be a bit strange.)

I've started my Christmas shopping - mainly because I have to arrange to get it to family in advance.

There aren't many things that are essential for Christmas apart from the company. I like to have christmas pudding, red wine and It's a Wonderful Life, but as I have puddings left over from last year, too much alcohol in the cupboard already and a dvd of the film, I don't think it's going to be difficult to organise. The thing I'm really celebrating is that for the first time in years I'll get paid holiday this Christmas!

I try not to worry about buying Christmas presents until November 6th. that's not to say I don't buy one or two before — but only if the opportunity comes up.

A reasonably local ice-cream firm, Purbeck, does a *seriously* nice mint choc chip ice cream. None of that silly green dye....

I HATE it when I try to do something nice for the family and they have to critique it! I get frustrated with them and tell they to do it next time!!

One recipe says to add 1/4 c. finely crushed candies.

AND......if you used cocoa krispies, you'd have chocolate mint! (GeoffC might turn up at your house, tho........)

Here is another recipe that looks good.....using peppermint flavoring and cocoa powder........
