I haven't even really got to the steampunky side of things yet. Though I am firmly grounded in yesterday's tomorrow.

I've browsed it once or twice when Tor blogged about it, but I haven't really had time to explore it.
It all just caught my eye. There's not really much steam punk in pop culture..its a very grounded subset that likes being niche. I can probably count on my fingers the number of steampunk fiction works out there right now in mass market. Actuall, B/N just had an end cap on "Steampunk" I counted 3 titles on the whole rack. Boneshaker, Leviathian, and a young adult novel that took place in a themepark. |

I started a few days late and have definitely not caught up yet.
Got hunt up on some plot points I've been trying to work out before going forward and it really screwed me up. I know you're just supposed to write but.. yick. It's first Nanowrimo. It's hard to write a Lovecraftian young adult novel! ;p |

Aw man. Your dogs are beautiful. Why do animals always tug heart strings?
I'm at around 8800, I managed to crank out a very difficult 700 something last night. Hopefully tonight i'll get back in track. I made the mistake of accepting a Nano dare by a member in England who wanted to get to 25k by the 8th |

I got to 18,292 today and then discovered that I need to insert a whole new chapter to let my hero and heroine get to know each other better. It may also be able to explain why the bad guy knows their plans so well.

10,126 and I think I finally made the bad guy bad. Its a little subtle. But I'm enjoying it. So far this is the bleakest, darkest thing I've ever written. I should continue tonight, it's early. But, I don't know if I'm quite ready for what comes next.
I feel bad for my hero. He's almost scitzophrenic, but it's not his fault. People keep messing with his head. It sucks to be the outsider. I'm at a point right now where I don't know who's good and who's evil. Hopefully the next chapter will shed some light on that. My favorite sentence so far: "The ruins whispered away into tiny fragments of civilization, concrete blocks fell upwards and reaffirmed their place in the world." |

10316 at the end of Day 6, and I'm not liking two of my characters - one of them is an authority-figure religious bigot, and the other's a dull, inadvertent and self-inserted "Mary Sue". I can't kill them, without killing two chapters and three days of writing. I'll have to think on them a bit, and maybe give their characters an unexpected bend in the road, try make them something else. Anyway, I can delay that, because my other two scenes' characters a more fun.
