does anyone know another site where you can preorder the PRS-600 or is it just sonystlyes.com? because im from germany, and on sonystyles there is no oversee shipping option ...
here in germany there is no releasedate for the new readers and also no indication that they will release it at all ... as always -.-

you might want to try borders bookstore site. that's where I ordered mine as I live in Guam and although technically its part of the US sony does not deliver here either.
I'm not sure if borders will ship to Germany but its worth a try. good luck!

I think germany is going to be one of the places where it is officially sold. You may want to wait till August 25th when Sony has their press conference event.

There seems to be no advantage to pre-order since there isn't a better price or anything if you do.

B&H will likely carry it. But I would also wait until the 25th, they should announce at least some European release dates.

Not enough for me to change.
Putting an eink reader with a glass screen in your pocket is a broken screen waiting to happen. Don't do it.

I'd have no qualms with putting an e-ink reader into an inside jacket pocket (the checkbook/ticket pocket) or a shirt pocket, assuming it fit. But I wouldn't think of putting one in the back pocket of my pants. It really depends on which pocket you're talking about.

I would not put one in any pocket. You might think it's safe, but if you get bumped by someone, it could break.

If someone's "bumping" me in the chest with enough force to break a reader, there are far more important things to be worrying about. But point taken.

it is possible to preorder it in the borders bookstore, thx for the tip @ lev, i will keep it in mind ;-)

but i quess i will wait till the 25th and see what sony will annouce. its possible that they will release it also in germany but the question is mainly when will they do it, and i hope that they will not do it alike the last times (505 - relased long time after and, 700 - never released ...)

thx for the help

[QUOTE=nanotube;557035]Very excited about the 600!! I was at the mall yesterday so I walked into the Sony store and chatted with some sales people. One salesperson said "we'll be selling all THREE new models by the end of August...blah blah blah".

It is this possible third reader that keeps me from pre-ordering the 600, but I was very excited and pleased to see you can pre-order in Canada now and that the arrival date is the same as the U.S.....can't wait

I carry my Sony PRS-505 in the pockets in which it fits (shirt pocket of my Travelsmith shirts, thigh pocket of my medium weight Fire hose pants) quite frequently --- I just turn the screen so it's on the inside.

Wouldn't carry it in a back pocket though.

Still debating on getting a PRS-600 as a replacement for my Newton MessagePad though....

I usually slip my Reader into the thigh pocket of my cargo shorts. It's actually pretty bump-resistant there Never a problem. I am more afraid of sticking it into a stuffed, non-rigid backpack or shoulder bag.

I may be mistaken, but the Canadian Sony site seems to be offering the new models for sale now. The "pre-order" option is gone, and you seem to be able to purchase now. I added a blue 300 to my cart, and I continued up to entering my credit card, but didn't complete the purchase (I think I will wait and buy from Future Shop as returns, if necessary, are easier).

Hm indeed, the readers now have "Add to cart" button instead of "Preorder today". Too bad I'm not in Canada.
