Very nice.

Robertb, quick question. What colour will the case be? brown? black? chartreuse?

Thanks, I like what I see so far.
Dear Tomsem:

Right now, Text-To-Speech (TTS) works for English and Chinese. Right now, TTS works with TXT and most other formats. It does NOT yet support PDF and EPUB; but that is because the factory only just got approved for ADE (Adobe Digital Editions). I would assume that they are now hard at work on trying to get epub books to work with TTS and should later do a firmware upgrade to enable this. It also is possible that they will do a firmware upgrade for French and other languages as the device is sold in Europe.

Dear Griffonwing:

We tried to get the factory to do black cases but they balked over having to send two colors. ALL of the magnetic clasp cases this time are REAL leather (not imitation) and are crush-resistant... but they are all TAN. Surprisingly, it is dark tan on the outside (natural leather) and a very light tan liner. This works well with all the colors and looks "rich". It is fine for the Slate Blue, honest.

Although the factory tried to do a special chartreuse case for you, it looked like a green and yellow mess and they gave up!

I still do want to do the video showing book bring-up and page turn speeds. I DID three weeks ago tell you how many page turns I got in twenty seconds. That is damned fast!! I get 21 full page turns of Robinson Crusoe in 30 seconds and I have slow reflexes. This is full page show to full page show.

The EZ Reader Basic struggles with 12 in 30 seconds and NOBODY has called the EZ Reader Basic slow.

So RobertB, two comments on theezreader.com.
1) I will add my vote to those who hate flash intro's. I did get your comment on the way to skip the intro, but my vote would be to remove it completely.

2) I did put in my preorder. I tried to get a slate blue before Griffonwing purchased them all. However, this is where I found that your site does not tell you what comes in the package. I have since found out by reading around here that it includes the case, earbuds and wrist strap, but it doesn't say on the web site.

About the same as the original CyBook Gen3. I just tested (using "Jim Baen's Universe Vol. 3 Num. 5"). 23 page turns in 30 seconds, waiting for the full flash refresh each time.

tomsem, if you plan on using DRMd EPUB (or PDF) (from post 37):

In my experience, most DRMed ebooks have all additional "permissions" disabled (although some PDFs allow limited copying and printing). It appears that Adobe ePub does have a read aloud metadata field, see for example Prince of Fire by Daniel Silva at Books on Board. This indicates that Read Aloud isn't available for Adobe PDFs, although Adobe Reader (not Adobe Digital Editions) does have a read aloud option for DRM-free PDFs. So far as I know, no version of ADE has read aloud capability

Same here.
Wrist-straps are great security for those of us that doze off while reading.
Another plus for the Pro.

Just tested it on my PRS-505, and I get 27 full pages turn in 30 seconds. This on a 1 Mo Lrf book.

I would have expected the pocket pro to be faster than two years old devices, especially as the Opus shows impressive progress in this domain compared to the older devices.

Can you do the video you were speaking for, a similar one that this one for the Opus?
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9v...er-screen_tech

Perhaps you should try with another ebook. I do know that the PRS-505 is slower with PDF for example. Is there still a black flash every page turn with the Pocket Pro?

I got 18 page turns in 30 seconds with my Kindle 1. This was with a largish book on the highest font setting.

I get 19 on the Kindle 1. I have a feeling time is lost with how springy the buttons are - I'd love to know what the K2 does.

Perhaps it is down to reaction times after all - I only get around 23 pages in 30 seconds on my PRS-505, remarkably close to my result on my CyBook Gen 3.
