While I am not going to dispute this, I would like to know your source for this information. No, I called them because the sytem lack an auto answer, and I have the habit of mistyping e-mail adresses.
My gen3's screen was broken, and that was a bit more problematic than "When is next firmware update due ?"

If you want to whine about bookeen's support, speak about you own experience you actually know something about.

Yes, and a lack of auto answer has the effect that "they did not answer you". I think I suggested an auto answer in one of my first email to them as a very cheap easy to enhance support.

Personally I would look in my saved sent emails to see if I typed the address correctly. Or I would just re-send the email being more careful. If I wanted faster support I would call them. So it does not sound plausible that the only reason you called them was that you might have mis-typed the address.

mmm an auto answer that states they've received the email , but not necessarily that they will read it !

that happens too often with other companies . (the reply address often stating, this mailbox is not monitored!)

Once again, you are not me.
I wanted a sure notice from someone of bookeen they DID have the e-mail, not wanting to wait and realize afterwards the mail had gotten lost into the wild. There are too many reason a mail can get lost. I had some trouble with Synology once, because gmail bounced the auto-response.
Yes, fast support was what I wanted, hence my need to make sure I did things right.

Sent a mail on Saturday, answers came on Tuesday. Can't really call that slow.
Wednesday : I sent the cybook ; Thursday : post is on strike, sighs.. ; Friday : Cybook arrive at bookeen, they confirm screen is broken; Satruday : I pay for replacement ; Monday : fixed Cybook leave bookeen ; Wednesday : Cybook back in my hands yeah

You can complain about slow update, bookeen rarely meting their own deadlines and all, but not for bad support. They are quite effective when you REALLY need them.

Do you try to resend them a mail about this problem? Did you try the 2.0 firmware? 1.5 and 2.0 firmware don't use the same HTML renderer, and I suspect the bug you had was from the MobiSDK

Yes, once. I can't go on assumming more than 75% of my mails to them will be lost every time, so I assume they received it.

Nearly all of my books are in Mobi format, and I have the first Gen3 model, with 32MB of memory. I think firmware 2.0 doesn't work well on it. So I'm using firmware 1.5, and the bug is still not fixed in it.

Well, it's not what was advertised to me by Bookeen. I bought a reader that's supposed to handle basic HTML, I got one that doesn't handle it. I expect only the fact that most people don't use this particular format prevents public opinion from calling it fraud.

I have never used HTML i have to say.
Obviously, companies concentrate on what is asked by the larger number of people. As a linux user, i know that all too much, halas.
