This is indeed a bug in Stanza. The problem is that we're incorrectly matching the fragment of the URL when the ePub contains multiple similar URLs. We'll try to get the fix in a future release, but in theory Calibre could work around our bug in the interim by generating unique link basenames for the magazines (e.g., instead of having "/index.html", "/article1/index.html", "/article2/index.html"; they could instead generate "/index.html", "/article1/article1.html", "/article2/article2.html", which would work around the issue).

ah...that explains why my footnotes work-all unique link basenames! thanks for getting to the bottom of this!

Actually, the txtr Reader handles ePub better then Stanza.

Yeah, but one of the coolest things about stanza is that you don't need to use a website as an intermediary. You can send your documents directly to your iphone and using Calibre from anywhere in the world. It looks like you have to store your documents on txtr.com with that app.

Unfortunately, doing name mangling is not easy, and it will generate annoyingly difficult to parse names for humans who want to manually inspect/modify the files (which happens a lot when recipes are being developed)

Thanks anyway. Guess I'll just wait until Stanza develops a fix.

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask - please don't shoot me down in flames if it isn't, but be kind enough to point me in the right direction. I have an iTouch with Stanza on it (much my preferred e-reader, I've tried several). I've downloaded a book on to it directly, not going via my PC, which is something I now regret as I want another copy as a backup and/or to transfer to another reader. Is there any way of getting books from the Stanza to the PC - I know how to do this in reverse, of course!

My thanks for your help.

I haven't tried it yet, but:
http://www.lexcycle.com/content/stan...k-restore-tool

Apparently this tool does something like that.

An update on the problem connecting from Stanza

Updating to 6.32 seems to have corrected whatever was going on that was preventing Stanza on my iTouch to our Calibre servers on the two laptops we own.

We did discover that we can't convert files saved in RTF format properly, however, we only get the first page, then is all blank pages after that.

And I'm getting a catalog error when I hit my wife's laptop which has 23 stories in ePub format for download to stanza? Mine with only 3 works fine.

@The Goof: In stanza turn off the styles in the setting to see your rtf converted files.

You catalog error is likely due to some problem with metadata in one of the 23 books. Post the server logs (get them from preferences->content server)

I can get past the catalog error when I use the IP address:8080 to my wife's laptop. I haven't had a chance to get the log to post.

The setting did allow me to read an ePub converted from an RTF on my iTouch in Stanza. My wife uses her Palm TX with mobipocket and has the same problem, do you know if there is a setting in mobipocket like the one you pointed me to in Stanza?

No, I'm not aware of one in mobipocket.

I've had this problem, as well. It seems to be a pagination problem, i.e. everything gets put on the first page and only the upper screen-full on that page is visible. I was able to read a converted RTF text by turning off styles, as suggested above, but I lose text formatting by doing so. Is this a bug in Stanza, or in the way Calibre converts RTF files? If I convert the RTF files to HTML first, I can then convert to ePub with Calibre and can read on Stanza on my iPod, but that's a nuisance.

Open the file using another ebook reading program like ADE or the calibre viewer to see if the bug is in the file or in stanza.
