On one hand Jeff says, DRM is options and on the other, he insists on DRM. Nobody yet knows his true stand on eBook DRM. |

If you need another clue, think about WhisperSynch. http://www.teleread.org/2009/02/16/a...ichael-harris/ I'm not saying that Amazon does or doesn't know what you are reading, nor whether they should or shouldn't, or under what circumstances, etc. Based on your own statements, it's simply a logical conclusion that technically,at least, if the WAN is working, Amazon can indeed know every page turn you make, when you make it, and if GPS is available, where you were when you made it. DRM or not. Last edited by Thomas Ryan; 03-12-2009 at 09:33 AM. |

yes, limit the synch to content purchased from Amazon, for obvious business reasons (value added to Amazon purchases only), but how do you know what data is actually being sent to the servers? Has anyone actually read the EULA?

In less than a year at FW, I've had book in my bookshelf disappear (and at BoB as well, for no apparent reason), restricting my ability to read on a new notebook computer (as I cannot redownload with the new PID). Computers are also designed to be replaced every 2 to 3 years (despite IRS depreciation rules and companies/home users that hang onto them for years). Notebooks have a much shorter expected lifespan than desktops. With the pace of technology, even the mobi format will probably be replaced as a standard or the old software will become incompatible with the latest version of Windows. All reasonable outcomes in the next 3 years that would mean (a) doesn't apply. |

desertgrandma-
I'm new - but thought that the thread consensus was that, since expiration was still effective, DRM wasn't violated. Does this mean I'm out of luck, or is there alternative way to get script? Thanks. |

This is so sad. The wiki is gone as well (I know that was in the request). That was how I learned to run programs from the command prompt, etc. This is so sad. I guess I got my kindle at just the right time. Only better time would have been never!
