I've also compared a recent iPad pro with Nxtpaper 11 and Nxtpaper 14. The iPad, or any other tablet or desktop doesn't even come close for coloured ebooks, video, photos and comics on either Nxtpaper. The iPad screen reflects too much. The Sage, Libra, Libra 2, Mars, Paperwhite 3 are only better than Nxtpaper in good ambient light with frontlight off. The 10.9" Nxtpaper is about 16:10 and handiest for notes. The 14.25" Nxtpaper is 3:2 aspect so works well with two page layouts where image is across two pages, or big multi-column magazines or A4.
I've seen two models of Kaledio 3 in local shops. They are miserable without frontlight and very desaturated colours (or else they'd be even darker). The Eink Corp admits the Gallery 3 is TEN TIMES slower refresh than mono eink. It's for shops, but failing to sell there because they want video. I disposed of Elipsa to a family member as it's too heavy. I gave away Remarkable, but the person replaced it with a Sage and gave it back. The Kindle 9.7" DXG was my worst purchase ereader. The K3 is far superior and the PW3 better for PDFs! So I'll stick to Libra and Sage for novels, and Nxtpaper for illustrated books, comics or big A4. I got a Nxtpaper 50 to replace my existing outdoor phone and Sony PRS-350 & 4.7" eink to "read on the go". Last edited by Quoth; 12-12-2025 at 06:58 AM. |

That makes sense, and would be in line with (almost) every software project ever done.

Seems the Sage may be sold out.
Does anyone know if it's sold out or discontinued? |

Canada and UK sold out too, dunno for how long, but in Australia you can get some. So I wouldn't say it is discontinued, yet. But the pattern here looks kinda the same as when the Libra 2 was phased out.

My main hesitation is the long-term stability. I'm concerned about the hassle of blocking auto-updates and keeping the jailbreak working. Could anyone who has jailbroken a newer Kindle share their experience?
