No, the Kindle still does not support EPUBs.

It only supports AZW, AZW3, TXT, PDF, MOBI and PRC natively.
Everything else through conversion into one of these formats.

Um.... Think it will support .cbr files? I do have hundreds of comics. i was excited to order this as I think it will be a lot better than the Color Pocketbook I have been using. But I am a bit concerned neither of the major comic book formats are mentioned. Anyone know what is going on with this?

I think the default was On, and I hadn't tried turning it Off to see what happens. Don't notice any slow performance or blurry images. I sometimes notice screen door effect with it On, but it doesn't bother me.

So I have turned it Off. So far, I cannot detect any difference or seen 'rainbow effect'.

For Send To Kindle, you would need to convert to PDF or fixed layout ePub.

The latter is preferred as it supports spreads (both 1x width for covers and 2x width that display in 2 page view). (Kindle platform supports facing pages/spreads for Kindle comic format in landscape orientation)

PDFs do not support 'spreads' so you would need to split 2x width images in half before creating PDF from the image set. And PDFs are converted to print replica format, and that does not currently support 2 page view no matter how large the display might be.

Calibre will import CB* files, but does not support conversion to other formats. It will do a conversion, but it's unlikely to be usable. I don't know why there's no plugin that will do conversion of CB format after all this time. I guess it's only Kindle that doesn't have native support for CB format.

If you extract CBR images, Kindle Comic Converter will create fixed layout ePub and set correct reading order for manga. You would need to add ToC if you want one with an ePub editor, and Send To Kindle will convert to KFX comic format (but no panel view).

You can also generate a side-loadable KFX comic with Panel View and ToC using the free Kindle Create tool from Amazon to output KPF (Kindle publishing format) and KFX Output plugin to convert the KPF to KFX. The plugin will also do a good conversion from comic book KFX to fixed layout ePub, PDF and CBZ.

Yes, it could/should be a lot simpler given how simple CB format is. Amazon could surprise us and add CB format support to Send To Kindle once people with Colorsofts start requesting it.

I can live without buttons on the Scribe but just making it waterproof would have been enough for me to buy the new one. The changes are so minor it’s not worth the outlay when I already have a lovely Scribe. Once they drop the price by at least a third I may be tempted.

You must mean the Colorsoft has no color options for the body. Paperwhite does have them.

There really is nothing functionally different, except the Premium Pen (included with all Scribe options) has a more eraser-like feel than before (it will work with original Scribe too but costs $80!). It should not tempt you even with a price drop.

If you like the new (entirely cosmetic) bezel design, most likely someone will offer a bezel decal that you can stick on to mimic it. Maybe this already exists.

Colorsoft is also not available in Brazil. Only the Basic, Paperwhite and Signature Edition. Hmm Sad

A Redditor checked, and the 12th gen Kindle Paperwhite apparently still only has 512 MB RAM, and has a dual-core processor of an unknown clock speed (see attachment).

It being faster (when it comes to page turns) could also be down to it using Carta 1300.

They show the new basic Kindle and and new non-color Paperwhite already, so my guess is no. A $300+ CAD color Paperwhite probably wouldn't look so good against the $250 CAD Libra Color.

Personally, I am excited for the ColorSoft. I bought the color Kobo and was underwhelmed.
