Yes, this. Clara HD and Clara 2E. Never a problem.

The current 4.37.21586 firmware seems to have DB corruption issues on the Sage. Given the dirty bit errors that Windows comes up with and the number of .wal (write-ahead logging) files that I've seen when connected to my computer, I strongly suspect that the database is not being properly closed before the connection is initiated since the .wal files should be removed when the last connection to a SQLite database is closed.

I'm still rebooting before connecting and likely will until the next firmware version arrives.

Firmware 4.37.21586

I’ve just discovered two bugs with this new firmware on my Elipsa 1. Many of my notebooks now have cloud sync issues. There is a cloud icon with an exclamation point in it on the notebook icons. Cloud sync issues aren’t unusual. In this case, however, tapping on the notebook in question pops up a dialogue that reads “Two versions of this notebook”. I can keep the cloud version (with its time stamp displayed) or the local version (with its time stamp displayed). Or I can “Open anyway”.

The problem is that no matter which version I choose to keep, the conflict doesn’t go away.

I’ve soft rebooted using NickelMenu and I’ve power cycled. Neither fixed the issues. If I opt to open anyway, the journal will open, but the Elipsa will freeze. Same problem happens with brand new created notebooks.

I’ve repaired the Kobo database, but the situation continues. Not only that, but I’m finding my Elipsa with a depleted battery every day since the update.

Anybody else running into either of these issues on their Elipsa 2E or Sage? Any known fixes?

I only use USB, which is maybe why my Elipsa and Sage is fine.
All the other Sage models in the family are fine too.

I use only USB as well, and my Elipsa definitely has the problem.

Title Arabic letters shown as boxes

Isn't there a fix for Arabic books titles appears as boxes in this firmware?

I reported this bug to Kobo (albeit, with Hebrew), I suggest you do the same. There is an annoying way to fix this if you set the fallback fonts to something that contains Arabic glyphs and open an Arabic book and flip through it.
But after you connect your reader to a PC you'll need to do it again.

There's another new firmware. So I suggest you head on over to https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=355900 to read about the new firmware.

Given that neither Arabic or Hebrew are currently supported languages, I suspect the OP is going to need to use a workaround to get an Arabic font to show in the management screens.

It is supported, Kobo added Arabic and Hebrew fonts that download automatically if your device is connected to wifi a few firmware version ago.
It's just that the implementation has some issues.

When I look at the languages on the language selection page, where do I see Arabic or Hebrew? The default fonts on the device do not support Arabic or Hebrew out of the box which makes it hard to display a book title with the correct font. I could read books using Greek, Cyrillic or CJK fonts years back by sideloading fonts that supported the needed glyphs but that did not mean the book titles showed in the correct font, that I could switch the user interface to that language, etc. That is what I mean by a supported language.

Heck, I still have a font that allows me to display an APL programming manual as IBM meant it to be seen. That does not make the APL character set part of the default user interface character set.

Yes, there's a difference between supporting a language within a book and supporting a language within the UI.

Update

I just sticked with KoReader, Arabic support in titles and Arabic keyboard, it was so easy to install an English Arabic dictionary. Although I have a probelm that sorting with date modified doesn't work, but having the options to crop PDFs is way easier than having to crop them in my laptop.
