Though that looks like LCD. I've had 3 different Binatone LCD ereaders, though one was really an Android 3 tablet with keyboard and only an ereader app and Binatone store and a defunct book shop. Old apks downloaded from an archive site do work on it.

Edit: very similar to one of the Binatone models that inexplicably played video. A similar dedicated Binatone only had an image viewer (that was fussy). Both had ADE and only recognised css and embedded fonts if files put in the Digital Editions folder (built in or created on SD card).

Edit: I see goodyreader writes it's a TFT LCD and reasonably writes "avoid".

Yes, I'm well aware. But it is the only match I could find with Aldi and ereader.

If you find an Aldi eink reader, let me know. I'm curious about off-brand readers

I still have that awful Aluratek, but it won't hold a charge for more than a few minutes.
A Palm III was my first reader, back when it was near impossible to find (legitimate) ebooks. Usenet was full of bad OCR jobs.

Then I upgraded to an HP pocket PC, which was at least a larger more readable screen.

I replaced that with a Sony PRS-500, and later the 700. My only complaint about those was that the page turns were crazy slow.

I've never heard of such a thing from Aldi. I think it's unlikely. I've been told in the past about budget "eink readers" and they were always LCD. I think there might be a perception that any dedicated ereader is same thing as "eink reader" because the Kindle eink is well known?
Cheaper Android tablets / Fire tablets, as low as €45 / $45, meant the end of dedicated LCD ereaders. The eink screens are expensive so a budget "own brand" eink would have to be bankrupt stock from someone, relabelled. I once got a budget brand DVD player/recorder for TV from a local Irish supermarket chain and the label fell off after a few weeks revealing a budget German actual brand (not a German supermarket brand).

One Reader that's now becoming a mess due to the latest firmware is the Kindle Scribe. It no longer mounts as a USB drive. It's now MTP. MTP is a mess.

The worst e-reader I've owned was the Kobo Touch... but it wasn't bad. It's just that the other Kobos I've owned (current is a Libra 2) have been better.

Worst I've ever personally owned was probably an Ectaco Jetbook. Finicky battery-hungry piece of LCD garbage.

My Kindle DXG used to be the worst, but I still have it and gave away the reMarkable. The remarkable only does networking on the USB, only File browser and only PDFs.
My Kobo Touch (model c) was better than either of those as an ereader till someone broke it and yet it had a poor screen.

The Worst ebook Reader You Ever Owned!

Kindle 4th Gen. Those page turn buttons dug into my thumbs.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Cybook Gen 3 where the screen would spontaneously break.

Probably the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight. I don't remember what I hated so badly about it besides how poor the light was, but it stands out in my memory as the worst of 10+ ereaders I've had.

Also the Kobo Mini. I still want to like it because it's so portable, but it locks up on me like there's no tomorrow (And it shouldn't be due to a sideloaded book, because my Kobo Libra 2 works fine with every book I've got)

Worst I ever had was the Palm Pilot 3.
I mean, it only had 2 MB (not GB) or user storage.
OTOH, it was my first portable device that could hold all my guitar transcriptions.

Remember the Mini would have had less RAM than newer devices and it's possible that the device was running out of memory as it processed the book
