I put my Audible books into a collection called Audiobooks (clever name) via the app. (I had to experiment, and it took several tries. It worked better if I create the collection on the Paperwhite and then sync.) After several attempts, I now have the Audiobooks collection on my Paperewhite.

There is an issue because Manage Content shows about 215 Audible books, and the Kindle app shows about 115.

Now, I am able to open Uncollected on my Paperwhite, and it shows my newest purchases plus a bunch of Audible books. I don’t know why it’s showing Audible books if I added 115 of them to a collection.

But at this stage, I’ll just grimace and bear it.

Which begs the question, why are they trying to read the thumbnail anyway when there is text right next to it.

The thumbnails are there so the list can look "pretty."

No.

I still prefer List view; it is not really important that the thumbnails are ‘unreadable’, IMO: even in Grid view that’s true of many, and the book details are much easier to discern there.

There are entire threads on how to get docs to display thumbnails.

I usually use the "old" option under output when I re-convert books if they show up with no cover on my Kindle.

I was hoping Amazon would leave our old PaperWhite 3's alone. I prefer the old compressed list library interface. Now I can only see 4 items on the screen at a time, both on the main page and within the collections.

I don't need/want/like thumbnails, but I DO need to see more books at a time on my collections screen because I use it for my morning and evening prayers (Anglican). I have broken my prayerbook file into multiple parts to make it easy to move from the prayer service to the Psalms to the collects (prayers) for the day and back again by making them separate books. I set the books up before I start my prayers, so all I have to do is open a book, read that part, close the book and open the next book. Works more smoothly than trying to set up multiple bookmarks. I did the same with my Bible, breaking it into Old and New Testament so I can mark the verses in each before I start my prayers. With the new Collection showing only four books I now also have to stop what I am doing and scroll among the parts instead of simply closing one and opening another.

Is there any way to make my PaperWhite 3 revert to the old Library and Collections screens?

I REALLY dislike the new UI, it is cluttered and uses smaller print than the old List view, but still shows fewer books per page! This makes it harder for people like me who have aging eyes and arthritic hands. They should bring back the old List option to bring it back into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

How many prayer books do you need to fit on a page? The grid view inside a collection can display 6 books. If I'm not mistaken, the old List view can fit 5 or 6. You only have add a single scroll down to your actions with the new list view. If you want more books on a page, there's grid view.

I don't think there's currently a way to downgrade to previous firmware, unless someone already has a jailbreak for the new one.

The only use I generally had for Go To page was to get to the last page, where you see dictionaries collection and so forth. Now you can get there by dragging the scroll indicator down all of the way.

I also used it occasionally in Author/Title search to jump to a position in the list. Again, you can drag the scroll position indicator around.

That said, drag is very slow on my PW4, and I would think on anything that is not Oasis or PW5.

So amazon is pulling an apple, forcing an "update" onto older hardware that is not suitable for that hardware, as an "incentive" to buy newer hardware.

I don't understand why they keep doing updates that shrink text and don't give options to enlarge it. Many switched to e-readers for eyesight issues. It is cruel to not work with that and keep making it worse.
