So it's really only 3 cables between a fair few devices. I need to think about selling or otherwise finding a home for the old Aura HD. My husband's Aura HD is also alive and kicking. I refuse to let go of my Sony T2.

I hope the new processor is worth it but the Libra2 does not seem to get it.

It seems like they may have. I am VERY happy I forged ahead and got myself a Forma on sale recently. I love that it is lighter than my Aura One. I was a little worried about the shape, but it's been great! And the lighting is very nice.

Reportedly (according to jswolf) the mobius screen is slower, and provides less contrast. And TBH it's a few grams heavier, you'll notice if you switch from a forma for the first week or two, but after that not so much and decreasingly less and less.

I'd wanna know how much the sleep cover weights for the Sage, the one for the Forma adds a bit of weight, but given that the Sage (and Libra 2) are going to be magnetic it might be a bit lighter.

I think you might be underestimating the weight difference a bit. I believe the Sage to be around 25% heavier, or 240 grams to the 190 of the Forma. Two ounces. I believe its similar to the difference between my Aura HD and Clara, and when we are talking about devices that are being held over extended time periods during a reading session, small differences become magnified.

Its not a dealbreaker for me because of the way I read. I mostly just dont like seeing Kobo seemingly going backward on an important characteristic of ereaders. The new kindle is comparatively heavier than I wish it was, but it has a bigger battery, whereas the sage seems to be heavier without the corresponding trade off.

Im looking forward to the reviews of the new screen. My subjective perception is that the carta screen has high enough contrast that the difference might not be perceptible like it was coming from older generations. The speed is sufficient for me already.

The weight could be because of the more blocky case/housing. Maybe it is flatter and blocky because it has to support the note-writing functionality

I suspect that eInk could supply an 8" Mobius Carta 1200 screen but they may not be manufacturing one with the digitizer layer for the stylus so the cost of the special order might be high enough to make the device unaffordable.

I can use audiobooks in my Oasis just fine. Not sure what you're talking about.

This limits the transfer speeds to like usb 2.0 which is definitely a design fail. They could just have chosen to have the adapter be the micro-USB on top of a super-speed certified USB-C cable.

The pages for these devices say "Audiobooks available only in select countries." I think that if you go to the Kobo store in your country, and they sell Audiobooks, then you will be able to listen to them on these devices.

Except that would complicate the design. With this design, the micro-USB is straight through. Any USB-C specific things can be put into the adapter.

But, it should be possible to use cable of appropriate quality to support the USB-C data rates. Maybe it can't get certified or whatever, but, I think anyone using a cable like this is after the convenience of having one cable rather than the utmost in speed.

Does Kobo have proprietary audiobook format like Kindle?

No idea. Almost the only exposure I have to them is turning off the display of them when I search the store for books. My wife has bought a few and uses the Kobo app on the phone to listen to them. I haven't tried to look at what the audiobooks look like filewise.
