That was regarding to epub.

LRF shows the header as the first line of the main text in every page. Page jumps are correct. The rest as in epub, but with different font size. Text lines are cut, but not so bad. Many paragraphs are ok.

Some problems.
The lit file i sent you wouldn't convert to epub - lots of errors. No doubt it is not a well formed lit file, but it does read ok in lit reader tho the fonts are fixed size.

Scientific American crashed the reader on formatting even when transferred using eBook library. Looking at the file using eBook library it had very odd pages and font sizes.

Tried converting an html zipped file to epub - the font was much too small, so tried upping the base font size to 200%. The font was now a reasonable size but the lines were much too close together - the line feed or whatever it is called had not been increased.

Good luck!
It converts for me. What errors were you getting?

Thank you, the revised 0.4.89 version converted the lit file without errors.

About the font size - the default 100% base font size gave somewhat too small a font.
I had to experiment to find that for me 130% gave a readable font size on S. But the multiplier will I assume be different for different lit files. Is there some override CSS that will give a consistent body text font size as the lrf conversion seems to do. I ask this despite considerable ignorance as to how CSS works.

And a side question - after booting up the computer calibre recognizes the sony reader fine. But at some point in the day after a few connections and disconnections, it no longer seems to know the sony is connected (to the usb) although the eBook library software sees it and it appears as a drive (windowsXP). I have to reboot the computer if I want calibre to access the sony.
Any idea why?

While technically posiible, rationalizing font sizes to an absolute base line is going to require rather a lot of processing power and some sophisticated code. It's on my TODO list, but not a priority.

What operating system are you seeing the USB problem on?

that's my question.

Ok - at least the font scale option works well.

The OS is WindowsXP Professional SP3

Hmm not sure why this should be happening. Is there a fixed number of repetitions before it happens? You can easily test this by repeatedly unplugging the reader (giving it only time to be recognized).

I'm using mac os x 10.5 and the epub displayed the same in digital editions, large type on title pages, but no content in the articles.

My batch conversion finished. It converted almost 100% of my 3.5K library which is pretty damn impressive

When doing cleanup today I noticed that any2epub was not working (for me) to add metadata after the fact.

Code:
any2epub --publisher=Elkins --author="David Gerrold" --subjects=SFF Tribbles.epub
Did not result in metadata being added. Did I use it incorrectly?

Edit: epub-meta also seems to only work sporadically.
Code:
epub-meta --authors="David Gerrold" Tribbles.epub
Results in:
Quote:
epub-meta Tribbles.epub
Title : Tribbles
Author : Unknown
Producer : calibre (0.4.89) [http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net]
Language : Unknown

Doing cleanup on the very few books that my batch job failed to convert:

Code:
any2epub --cover=cover.jpg complete_fuzzy.html
Produces:

Quote:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 167, in <module>
File "<string>", line 163, in main
File "<string>", line 138, in any2epub
File "library.pyz/contextlib", line 33, in __exit__
File "library.pyz/contextlib", line 118, in nested
File "<string>", line 138, in any2epub
File "library.pyz/calibre.ebooks.epub.from_html", line 223, in convert
File "library.pyz/calibre.ebooks.epub.from_html", line 171, in process_title_page
File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/PIL/Image.py", line 1272, in save

File "/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/PIL/ImageFile.py", line 181, in load
seek(o)
ValueError: I/O operation on closed file
However if I modify the main html file, adding
Code:
<img src="cover.jpg">
at the start of the <body> the epub converts w/o error.
