I've ordered a Moko. I'm just glad to have an alternative to Fintie. The Fintie case I got for my Voyage cracked after a few months of very light usage. Never again!

My Fintie cover arrived yesterday, so I read quite a bit after putting it on my OA2. I'm one of those who keeps a cover on a Kindle all the time, which is good because this case snaps on, and getting the OA2 back out of it would be a project. This cover would be a major fail for those who want a case they can pop their Kindle out of for reading.

Also this is a book cover style case, not one with a built in stand.

It does trigger the auto wake feature of the Oasis. It's well done with neat cut outs with plenty of room to plug in the charger and reach the wake/sleep button. It covers the entire back of the OA2 and conforms to the shape. However, if the left side of the cover is folded all the way back, the only way to reach the thicker side of the back for purposes of holding the device would be to slip your fingers under that folded back front cover.

The surprise for me is weight. I expected this case to be as light as the Amazon covers for the OA1, which may have been unrealistic. The other Fintie cover I had was for a Voyage, and since I wanted a stand-up cover at that time, it's been a while since I handled that one. (I cut it up and glued the snap on part to the back of a stand-up cover and made what I wanted.) I remember it as extremely light and without as much front padding as this new one. This cover is an ounce heavier than the charging cover of the OA1 and so adds that much to the difference in weight between the OA1 and OA2. I didn't expect that and maybe should have since this one covers the entire back.

Since I do almost all of my reading with a Kindle in a stand and the weight isn't important, this cover works for me. For those who hold their Kindles and are already concerned about the OA2 being heavier than its predecessor, maybe that won't be true. On KBoards it is reported the Moko cover is lighter than the Fintie, but the weights reported by the manufacturers on Amazon show 4.6 oz for the Fintie and 4.5 for the Moko, which isn't IMO enough difference to matter. My kitchen scale verified that the Fintie is 4.6.

I originally ordered one of the Amazon leather cases and canceled after seeing the lousy reviews. I don't expect this Fintie cover to last as long as the Amazon cover, but for the price difference, I could have 4 Finties for the original $60 Amazon price and even now that the Amazon has come down in price and the Fintie is more than what I paid, I can have a couple Finties for a bit less.

All in all I'm happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the review, Ellen. Interesting to hear how third-party covers are working out.

Does the Fintie cover clip in on the left hand side as well as the three sides? My generic cover only clips in on three sides so it's very easy to clip in and out of, plus it only weighs 111gms (3.9 onzs)

The Fintie also has kind of a padded front, which is quite comfortable...although I haven't read very much with it yet. I'm going to try the Fintie first tonight, although just from the couple of pages I've done so far, it definitely seems more comfortable than the official waterproof cover. Whether it's more comfortable than the Moko, we'll have to see.

Shari, do the Moko and Fintie covers clip in on the left hand side? My generic cover only clips in on three sides and all four corners, the left hand side is mainly open leaving it easy to clip in and out of.

I did finally receive the Merlot leather cover yesterday! I did not get the $20 price drop automatically, had to contact Amazon customer service. They quickly took care of it for me.

I love this cover! Stood up real nice on table as I read last night, at Barnes and Noble cafe, of all places. The magnets worked great right from the start. I noticed after putting it in my pocket that it can get little scratches on the leather, but those are quickly smoothed out.

The Moko is three sides, and the Fintie goes all the way around. I have to say that I haven't found it hard to take the Fintie cover off, though...I take off the upper corner on the thin side, then the lower corner on the thin side, and it comes right off.

I'm still using the Fintie for now--tomorrow I will try the Moko and see which I like better.

Here's some pictures that I took this morning. The Fintie is brown, the Moko is black. In the other picture, the Fintie has the darker inside, the Moko the lighter.

I want the option to click in and out easily so it looks like I'm better off with the Moko cover, plus it's lighter, although I prefer the darker inside.

As shalym said, the Fintie holds the Oasis by all 4 corners. I may try to take it out of the cover shalym's way. I gave it a half-hearted try yesterday and stopped rather than break something, but I tried the upper right corner, i.e., the opposite of what evidently works.

Just notice this on Amazon

We want you to know:
This cover is designed to personalize your Kindle Oasis, while protecting the display from dust and scratches when not in use. It is not built to protect against accidental drops. It fits the contours of your Kindle Oasis without fully wrapping the device, leaving the corners and the handgrip portion of the aluminum back uncovered. We recommend detaching before reading for the lightest possible one-handed experience.

Referring to the Amazon covers for the KOA2.

my Fintie arrived yesterday. It was a bit damaged on one corner, clearly a sign of a defect at manufacturing. It fits like a glove though and I guess it will do the job until I can get my fingers on one of the Amazon covers.
So I am keeping it.

Are you going to give us a clue which particular cover this is referring to?
