I am a mere grasshopper compared to you!

Using calibre's Virtual Libray feature, I show only 637 titles compared to your vast collection of 1400.

I'll put it in the same dresser drawer where I keep my old Confederate dollars. ha

The youngsters on the list may not recognize the coin. It is a buffalo (head?) nickel (yeah, the front has a native American, but I think on the back side was an American buffalo). They probably went out of circulation in the 1950's. Mercury dimes ended circulation about the same time.

True story: I found several buffalo nickels and mercury dimes on the school playground when I was in the first half of third grade (even by that time they were valuable). I dutifully took them to the office to see if anyone claimed them. I was supposed to go back after a certain amount of time and claim them if no one else had. It turned out that we moved out-of-state in the middle of third grade, and I didn't have an opportunity to claim them, didn't get around to it, whatever. It's annoyed me ever since. ha

Off Topic a bit.

I have several Independent Music Artists I would love to see put up a tip jar on there sites. I buy there digital albums when they come out to give them some support. However I would love to give them a couple bucks a month to help pay for their overhead. If enough people did this they could potential net themselves at least a couple hundred dollars a month which might help them out more then the digital streaming sites do. And yes I have asked them to do this and none of them have done so.

Nope, not a Buffalo (or Indian Head) nickel. In fact, it's not a nickel (5 cent piece) at all. You can tell by the ridges around the edge of the coin. US nickels have always had smooth edges.

That's a Gold Buffalo, a gold bullion coin. Okay, it's a picture of a Gold Buffalo.

I was not very selective when I bought all those Open Road Media ebooks, and now that I've finally finished loading them all into Calibre and verifying their metadata, I can safely say that there's probably a third of them that won't be making it to my ereader, mostly children & tween stuff. It was really pretty easy, although a bit time consuming, to just keep clicking on the middle mouse button on the one-click buying. There might be some good YA/Tween stuff there, like the Jane Yolen, so I'm not going to just delete it all yet.

Very good. The Indian Head nickel was silverish, like all, or almost all coins, are, and this one was gold. I didn't think about that. I thought that tubemonkey was being a wise guy when he put that up; instead, he put the image of something that's probably very valuable!

I haven't seen an Indian Head nickel in years and years. There's supposed to be a collection at my mother's house that our family started and worked on in the 1960's. I may not have seen one since then. I guess that the collection's still there and either my sister or I will inherit it when my mother passes on. At the time that we were collecting them, some of them weren't worth much more than . . . a regular nickel! Of course, there were some that were worth a lot more than that. We did the same thing with mercury dimes.

It has an F, like all gold buffalo's do, for James Earle Fraser the person that came up with the design of the Indian head nickel that the gold buffalo is modeled after. It is minted by the US Mint at West Point, NY.

The Franklin Mint is a private company that sells privately made commemorative coins and other collectibles.

There must have been a lot more fiction than non-fiction in the sale. I looked in about every nook and cranny of the non-fiction selection and came up with "only" about 150 free ones. Of course, I was being a little bit selective--I didn't take everything just because they were non-fiction.

Another giveaway--I certainly didn't look the coin over very well--there is a 2008 date on it! Only about 50 years after the last Indian Head nickel was made. ha!
