These are Consumer Items. Shouldn't they be available in normal Consumer Channels?
I bought my first ereader, the Kobo Wifi, at Borders as they were going out of business. I would not have known about Kobo without Borders...

I bought my Aura 6" from the Kobo website a little over a year ago. It would be nice to be able to see one in a store before buying! But my results have been good, so If I like what I see I would buy a Kobo again.

I haven't found the Kobos to be any more fragile than other ereaders. My husband inherited my Aura HD when I got my H20, and both screens are still in perfect shape. We both just use neoprene sleeves, no covers. He is especially tough on devices, and I'm notorious for drifting off while reading in bed and having it go clattering to the floor.

I've had half dozen Kobos and I still have one of them. The others are still being used by my neigbhors and friends. I've also had about a dozen Kindles, 4 of which I still own and the rest are being used by neighbors and friends. None has ever broken or become defective in any way. All are still in regular use.

Also a number of my neighbors have Kindles and Kobos they've bought themselves and all are still just fine. Most are many years old.

I have no doubt they can be broken but it sure ain't common around here. Maybe it's something about the quality of the Arkansas air.

I've only had the one Kindle Keyboard, the Kindle Fire 7, and now my main reader, the Kobo Glo. It's not even HD. But I get a lot of reading done on it.

I have never purchased a cover. I read in my bed and the ereader never leaves the room. I don't take it out, and on the one occasion I flew abroad, I didn't take my reader with me.

May be. I've had about a dozen, mostly kindle, but also an aura h20, and haven't broken one either. I always use a case, though.

That's probably it. 50 fonts would be a heck of a lot for an ereader!

Kobo has decided to go a different route. They sell their readers here in the US to independent book stores. You can look up on their site a list of independent stores that sell their products.

Selling them in libraries might be an interesting opportunity once Kobo releases the firmware that supports Overdrive.

I'm cautiously optimistic on this. I've always preferred Amazon ecosystem to Kobos but I've been wanting a bigger ebook reader that is isn't a tablet for ages now.

Yeah...I've tried that. I've looked at every bookstore I can find around here, and I've never seen a Kobo for sale. I did see one at an airport bookstore in (I think) Nevada one time, but that's the only place I've ever seen one on sale in an actual B&M store.

I wish they would sell them at Best Buy again.

I went and used their USA link, which sent me to the ABA site

I entered my Zip: 0 found
I entered CA (by itself) (stupid UI, no way to refine the results to the San Francisco Bay/Peninsula or miles from ZIP)

Keplers (the closest), only list covers

I got five stores in my area that are Kobo dealers. However I bought my Kobo from Chapters in January. It was easy to do and fast shipping.

I like the bigger screen size that Kobo is offering. Would be nice if Amazon upped their screen size in the Voyage or Oasis line. Perhaps have 2 versions of each with a standard 6" and a large 7.8" screen.
