We have a few ereaders in our house.
I DO like reading on them, but for convenience, I more often read on my tablet, as I more often have that with me. I doubt I'll buy another ereader, although I still read a lot. |

I don't even touch my eink devices anymore I do actually like the screen but the rest of the hardware in my opinion just isn't up to the task I've owned a couple from both Kobo and Sony and both constantly crashed as far as I'm concerned they aren't fit for purpose.
As long as they continue along this route I don't see them as a worthwhile investment and I know pretty much any phone/tablet will completely run rings around them their just in a completely different class hardware wise. |

I just got a Kobo HD Glo and for someone who has read on a tablet for two years switching back to eInk was easier than I thought with the new ppi it's really nice. The only things I miss is better contrast and more reading space but the size of Kobo HD Glo is really great for traveling. It's tiny. Smaller than other Kindles I've own.

However, if I did, you'd be right. Ereaders would be much better. In that case I'd be using the ereader more. For me, I mostly read on lunch breaks. in my computer room at home or in bed, nowhere where there's direct sunlight. The Samsung galaxy S 8.4 displays quite well outside anyway for me, although not as well as an eink ereader. Still, if I were to go on a holiday, I would defo take an eink ereader. The extended battery life is such a big bonus. As we have a few ereaders in our house, that wouldn't be a problem. |

I read exclusively indoors. The Great Outdoors is for working/playing in.

I spend a lot of time outside.
When i was growing up we couldn't afford to air condone during the daytime even after we got air conditioning so it was just much cooler to be outside in summer. I bicycle to the library and the local swimming pools (and swimming holes in creeks during wet years. I read in tree houses and in dug out forts. After high school I served three tours in the military much of sleeping out under the stars. Indoors is for when it rains. |

The one time I really use my Nook is when we go on vacation -- a lot of down time sitting at the beach or by the pool. At home I use my 5" phone almost exclusively, mostly because it's already there and works well enough, and it would be a hassle to switch back and forth with the Nook.

I mainly bought a paperwhite, not to wake up my wife at night, as the front light could be set darker than a cellphone's backlight.
That purpose is now gone, but I do still enjoy reading at night on my h2o. |

I started with my wife's kindle, got my own second hand nook along with my smart phone, tablet and laptop. I use a desktop in my office.
Earlier I used to read lots of paper books. Now I lost touch in reading books. I got a good collection of books side-loaded on my nook. In spite of trying to read books, I always veer towards my smartphone when outdoors and tablet at home browsing on internet and spending time on facebook, whatsapp and news apps. Recently I carried my nook on a long flight to US but ended up watching movies or sleeping as the nook does not have an inbuilt light. So, I got myself a brand new H2O and gave my nook to my son. Now the H2O is a constant companion on my bedside. I am trying to cultivate the habit of reading books. But whatever the books I tried to read, I am loosing interest after starting the book and with difficulty I am finishing the book. Atleast I am not abandoning the book. That is the reason why I am veering towards a tablet and the smartphone for general browsing. |

What kind of shows and movies do you like? Those are the types of books you should be looking for. Just because War and Peace is a classic, that does not mean it would be a good fit for you. This is why when someone asks me for good authors, I ask what they like. That way I know I won't recommend something they wouldn't like. |

Yesterday I saw someone with a plain black-bezeled eink reader I could not identify reading something that appeared to be in Chinese. It was a 6" or possibly 5" device and she was using it landscape with a large font, showing relatively few symbols on the page. It was eye catching. for some reason. Struck me almost like it was a movie prop.
If e-ink readers are in fact dying out, does that mean Amazon will start discounting the Voyage soon? |

I have a bit of ADD, so keeping focused is difficult for me from day to day.
I probably only finished 5 books in my entire lifetime. If it doesn't catch my attention, it will end up in the 'halfway read' pile. What I like about the internet, and about my kobo, is that you can find a lot of shorter paragraphs, or articles, like this forum, or on the Kobo there's 'getpocket.com'. There you can read articles like as if it was a mini-book, usually 3 to 10 pages, and with very relative and up to date topics! Very informative as well. If it doesn't suit me, I continue reading anyway, because it only has a few pages; unless I totally don't deem it worth my time; then I just delete the file from my kobo. Talking of E-ink dying, I haven't seen a lot of plastic, bendable e-ink screens that where supposed to be display panels for commercials on store windows? I would love to have a plastic e-ink 'screen' the size of 13" or more. When are they going to make cheap e-ink screens, like they're doing now with solar panels made out of carbon paper? |
