Probably for the best to lock it, don't annoy the man who's found the JB for us and its doing the right thing waiting. We can wait until its ready and then enjoy rather than annoy him into not releasing it.

Why lock the thread? It wouldn't serve any purpose except to shut people up. On an internet forum specifically designed to facilitate and encourage communication, shutting a forum shows a lack of interest in the community.

Let people clamor.

Hi, I'm new here and just got a PPW2, and didn't know I should have it in airplane mode...oops...now I'm on 5.6.5 and will wait for the JB. I'm wondering, though, in the mean time, if there is some place that we can go to "report" this exploit to Amazon to express our fear that we have heard about this exploit and want Amazon to fix it ASAP. Does anyone think that might be helpful to get Amazon to kick out an update? Just curious. Keep up the awesome work!

That seems impractical, honestly. This is a zero-day method, and we don't have any information about what exactly this exploit is capable of doing, or the security concerns that may arise as a result. I imagine that if you were to report it, they'd turn right back around and ask "Well where did you hear about it?" and "What is this exploit?" and that would be a compromising position to be in as you shouldn't answer the first question and don't know the answer to the second. I applaud Branch Delay for being so mature about this, and contacting the vendor first. That is a very honest thing to do.

If people are asking questions answered in the first post, rather than locking the thread (a moderator action) one can simply stop reading new posts (a personal, user action).

The thread will remain open -- it is far more useful that way, and it gives people the opportunity to say things that are actually constructive.
