it seems that Amazon didn't keep its fair play long enough. After 5.65 update this trick never work again, for both utf-8 and non utf-8 books

As per post #66 the trick is still present in the firmware JARs for fw5.6.5 (I just checked), so I am guessing you did something wrong.

Did you have this working before?

Do you use Windows, and if so did you check to make sure Windows is not hiding a .txt file extension from you?
Did you restart your Kindle after adding the file?

@tiandijie: Several of us have confirmed font_ramp works with 5.6.5 when it comes to AZW3, but not MOBI or KFX: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...=256969&page=7

If you are downloading books directly to your to your Voyage, perhaps you are getting KFX and that's why it's not working.

You mentioned you could edit margins. Could you tell me how to do it?
I am using KPW1 firmware 5.6.1.1 with Jailbreak. I have used usbnet to get ReaderSDK-impl-en_GB.jar, but I fail to change margins. I guess it is the same format with your file.(ReaderSDK-impl-en_GB.jar)

The margins editing is ok, small changes, but it seems to work fine, same with the progress bar size (ReaderSDK-impl-en_GB.jar). Instead of fixed values, now the numbers are used to multiply the pixVal value, which for KV is 0.4245.

Apparently the mobi and PDF readers still have the same resource names, so it should work as well.

I have read that it was possible to customize font -size array on a PW2 by inserting at root level a file named FONT_RAMP which contains the new numerical values. However this does not work with PW3 (v. 5.6.5).

Will this be possible on a jailbreaked PW3?

This should probably be in the dev area, but I need to ask why you think it doesn't work with a PW 3? It definitely works on mine...

Maybe I have been misunderstood.
Now I have a choice of 8 font-sizes from small to very big. I would like to choose between 8 font-sizes from small to medium (with a more subtle change in between).

Are you sure that you're trying to use it on a KF8 (azw3) format book, and not a .mobi or a KFX format? Because it definitely works for me on both my PW3 and my Voyage running 5.6.5

@roger64: FONT_RAMP is still functional on fw 5.6.5. It works on my PW3. You must be doing something wrong, like not copying the file to the right place, and then restarting/rebooting your Kindle.

p.s. It shoould be noted that this change applies only for books in azw3 (= KF8) format. It's doesn't work for mobi or kfx format (= books with enhanced typography).

I tried to insert a FONT_RAMP file with numerical values that suited a PW2. Maybe a PW3 needs a different set of values? Could you post a file suitable for PW3 that I could customize later?

Where exactly do I insert it? I tried :
- close to system and documents
- within the system folder

It needs to be inserted in the root of the Kindle, not within any folder. Maybe that's your issue?
