My 2013 runs it just fine as far as I can see. It does kill VPN apps though, so I only updated one of my two 2012s so that I can still use Hideninja when I need to.

Just found this thread... My 2012 Nexus 7 SUCKS on Lollipop!! I'm on 5.0.2 now. I wish I hadn't updated it. Everything is so slow now, I usually end up giving up on what I'm doing just about five seconds before the app crashes anyway.

Once I downgraded back to kitkat, mine seems to work fine. It was a pain finding a guide that worked for me (or one I followed properly) but I think I ended up using two different guides to finally get all the steps right.

Have you cleared the cache partition? That made all the difference for me.

I tried that one and it didn't seem to matter much.

I ended up doing a factory reset and that did the trick. My Nexus is now working like the day it came out of the box. After playing around with Lollipop, I like it!

Android 5.1 is supposed to be out today.

Hopefully the battery improvements will work on my 2012 Nexus 7, but that's not on the list of devices here.

Silent mode added after missing on Android 5.0
General improvements in system stability
Improved RAM management
Fixes for sudden app closures
Improved battery management
Excessive consumption of network devices when used Wi-Fi fixed
Issues with wireless connections fixed
Problems with Okay Google function solved
Notifications problems solved
Some sound problems experience by certain devices fixed
Other improvements and changes
Changes in the Material Design color palette (after users complaints, possibly for a higher version though)

I am at this time flashing my wife's Nexus7 2012 with android 5.1 I will let you know how it goes a little later.

So far the screen is much more responsive. With the last time I flashed this one I could not even get the screen to respond when it was updating the apps. But this time the screen responds great and the updates are being downloaded.

Thanks. I'm more concerned with battery life. I did a full wipe and flashed the update. Without installing any apps it's using 3% - 4% battery per hour. The only things syncing are Play Books, Drive, and Contacts. It's completely unusable.

My wife uses this one to play games, and to check the email, etc. The WIFI is on all of the time as well as the Bluetooth. The one issues that she as had is it becoming unresponsive, and to take care of that she would have to reboot. I also got her into clearing the apps from memory when she was not using them.

Nobody actually uses the 2012. Both my hubby and I have the 2013 models. I always update the old one first. All of ours have data - I wonder if that's the problem with my 2012 model?

Not sure what they changed but it seems to be something to do with putting the screen response as a high priority. The app downloads and updates are taking much longer, but the screen is always responding to touch and clicks.

It looks that the android 5.1 has finally gotten to the point that it cleans up the ram that is not needed. I had the tablet it very sluggish by doing an lot of things in quick order but then I closed the unneeded apps and it only took a few seconds for the tablet to perform very good again.
Now it will get sluggish if there are lots of downloads and other apps are try to do things in the background. That is to be expected this tablet does not have as much memory as the 2013 nor does it have the processor power.
But it is so much better that it was with 5.0.2

The factory images are out for wifi only for the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013. That leaves me out.
