@Davidfor I think I gonna stop now, because we just disagree and only try to "defend" our stands while we perhaps bother other people with it, i can't pull you to my side as a matter of speaking and you can not pull me to yours, maybe my examples are not the most heavvy in your opinion like the page back one, or you take them to literally, change 5 pages into 20..but then you can say who wants to go 20 pages back, don't call any amount of pages at all and just try to use the slider even to stay at the same page.
Hope still the same friends.

Sorry if it's already been discussed, but I don't seem to have the Header and Footer option. I have firmware 3.11.0 on my H2O.

It's clearly shown on a pic at the-digital-reader website "http://the-digital-reader.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/kobo-firmware-update-3.11-two.png"]

Have a look at your .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf file. I think it needs to have these 2 lines in there. If they're not there create them using a decent text editor (e.g. for Windows, Notepad++ is decent but Notepad is not) :

If you don't have it then it's probably not included but was instead added via the hack mentioned above.

I need to fix my post.

It does work, but if you use the sleep function, then wake it (using power button or sleep cover), it will wake to an unresponsive state and have to be reset using the pinhole.

Coolreader, on the other hand works perfectly.

I made the necessary changes and it does indeed eliminate the header/footer, but now with a Calibre sideloaded epub all my text along the right hand side from top to bottom is cut off somewhat. Adjusting font settings does not fix the problem.

I tried it with one Kobo purchased book and it works excellent without issues.

Its actually funny in that I'd seen this exact issue yesterday but I know after some quick editing of the Conf file all is fine today.

I'm currently out and don't have easy access to viewing the conf file but as soon as I am home I will check what I have there

I'm pretty sure if you add the lines for your side-loaded font in your Kobo eReader.conf file that it will work to increase the thickness. Here's a scan of one of my favorite side-loaded fonts, Lexia DaMa, on the old firmware where it didn't make a difference adding the line, and on 3.11.0 where it is quite a bit thicker with the lines added.

These are the 2 lines I added for the Lexia DaMa font. I'm not sure the sharpness setting makes any difference anymore (but Kobo didn't remove it with the new firmware), and I also have GeoffR's patch installed, but again, not sure if that's required for this to work.

I use that hack on my Glo and text is still perfect as before, I don't see any cutoffs at either end of the page. Maybe it depends on the font used? Or possibly a margin setting, I have mine set to 2 for left and right margins. But I've tried several different fonts last night, both system and side-loaded fonts, and didn't see it happen. On the Glo, we need 2 lines entered, maybe adding that 2nd line will help with other readers after this patch?

That's a bit of a quirk, sometimes I change the font type and that fixes it, something a bit thinner.

I don't know this for a fact but it's possible you may need to force the Kobo to re-render the pages in that chapter. As Josie said temporarily changing the font (name not size) may work, and/or perhaps paging to the end of the current chapter and into the next. A re-render should happen when a new html content file is opened. In a nicely constructed epub there is one html content file per chapter.

If that doesn't work try a brand new epub and see how that looks.

Hey thanks, I am not sure why this was removed from the newest firmware, I know there are issues with Calibre created Kepubs but that I think is intentional on Kobo's part, (just a guess), So I am not sure that the cut off is really a bug or not.
