I personally consider it a non issue although I can see an argument for why it could be an issue.

Ah, I see, thanks. In this case then, the screenshot and a photograph of the screen would look different.

Until you find out that a replacement USB cable will cost $50 and have to be shipped from Canada.

Perhaps Nate just has some really odd USB cords lying around? Hard to believe they would do something so silly.

I admit this question occurred to me the instant I saw the picture. For me, the only way to compare is seeing the same text side by side. Multiple pics of different pages with different fonts and layouts would be nice. Some cover pages wouldn't hurt. In all cases, they should be mirrored exactly on both devices.

I appreciate the review though, and the effort to post the review and pics.

For what it's worth, I hold the Aura HD in one hand, and can turn pages. I admit it's awkward, and I still sometimes fumble with it. Thus I'm interested in even a slight improvement in this area.

One of the cables I tried was from a Kindle. That should have worked (it works with pretty much all other devices with a compatible plug).

I tried this on few epubs with 30px and the text fits neatly at the centre of the screen of Aura HD. You might have to tweak that number for your device. I also noted that you'll have to remove any "margin-left" line from the body tag of the CSS.
Have you also noticed that that is unacceptable?

I would like to add more detail, including a comparison with the Kindle Voyage, but unfortunately I still have not seen that ereader.
You say the H2O won't use any cable but it's own. Will it use any other micro-USB cable for at least charging? Will it charge from an Apple iPhone or iPad charger?

It didn't come with a charger. And yes, it will work with the several generic chargers on my desk as well as the Google one.

But can I use any micro-USB cable to charge or do I have to use the one that comes with the H2O?

The micro-USB cable that comes with the H2O is what you need for data transfer yes?

The problem with the H2O is the plug on the end of the cable, and more specifically the port in the ereader. That port isn't shaped quite right to fit the standard cables.

Do you think it might be the unit you have? That the plug will be fixed before it's for sale? Would you mind trying the Kobo cable on a different device to see if it fits? Thanks.

Do you mean there isn't enough space around the socket to fit the standard sized plug? Your photos seem to show a standard micro USB socket, but it looks like there isn't space around it for the plug. Could we have a photo of the plug? Then we can see if other plugs could be modified.

The Kobo cable works with everything I have on hand.

On a related note, I discovered after i wrote the review that my Pocketbook Ultra shares a similar predilection. It will only accept its own cable - or the Kobo cable.

The Aura H2O will accept the Ultra's cable or its own, but not any other. (This already came up in the comment section of the review.)

Since the cable works with other devices, maybe it's that H2O? have you contacted Kobo about this to find out what's going on?
