When I had this happen I had malware, spyware something on my computer. Not saying you have anything. But that was my problem

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to be using Firefox with either the EPUBReader or Lucifox plugin active?

Because if you do and try to download a B&N-DRM book, then it silently fails because the plugin tries to load any epub into its own library instead of asking/saving to disk, but can't because of the DRM.

Even if that's not the case, you might get better results by using the old NOOKstudy program to download your books*, even though it'll take longer since it insists on fetching and syncing your entire NOOK library catalogue.

* Sometimes the B&N servers time out your login cookies or whatever after 15-20 minutes when downloading directly via the website and cuts you off in the middle. So NOOKstudy might end up being the only way to get a very large file if you've a relatively slow connection which can't grab 700+ megs within that time limit, as I've found out.

Do you possible use Firefox with Adblock or Ghostery enabled? B&N buttons won't work unless you allow trackers to count your click! I can't remember which one it was, but I had to turn off one of those on the B&N website for the Download button to work.

I am running Linux use Firefox, Adblock Plus and Ghostery the download button works for me.

Thanks to all for your help. Rebooting the computer may have solved the problem. BTW, I use IE, but this morning still had a devil of a time logging onto B&N, but eventually the 'download' button worked and I got the expected 'save as' query.
Now all loaded into Calibre and all is well. Don't know what the problem was but OK now ;-)
