The key question here would be, Is this phone locked into Amazon app market or will it get full Google Play access? If it will (GooglePlay) that create some disruption in the market, I think, otherwise, this is basically a small Kindle Fire to me.

The first phone where it's recommended you don't dock it when you go to sleep.

...Unless you have the new disruptive sleep app that figures out whether you're tossing and turning too much.

The technology is good, but so bad at the same time. Even if it had been free, I'd pass on it.

The price will go down to $0 on contract completely in three months most likely.

I read the specs on the new Fire Phone. It appears to have a 4.7" screen versus my Samsung Galaxy s5 screen of 5.1", it does not have Ultra Power Saving Mode which the s5 does have, it is not waterproof as is the s5.

Plus, it is simply TOO LATE. I purchased my s5 in April, 2014. Had it come out before that time, there is no question I would have purchased the Fire Phone.

In two years after my present contract expires, I may buy a Fire Phone.

One improvement the Fire Phone could have had: eInk screen with full color. The big problem I have with my Samsung Galaxy s5 is reading the screen in bright sunlight. EInk would have solved that problem.

If the Fire Phone or any other phone, for that matter, has an eInk full color screen in 2 years, that IS the one I WILL be buying.
