The first book in the Dresden files, Storm Front by Jim Butcher is euro 1.99 at both amazon.de and kobo at least from Germany and maybe elsewhere. Watch out are there two different editions, the other is more expensive.

Thanks for that tip, I was hesitating because if I bought them I wanted the whole set.

Interesting, reviews of this series have been mixed, some people saying it starts off too slow. But the reviews on the final book are much more positive.

I had purchased book 4 a week or so ago at the $1.99 price and didn't own the other three. I love her Farseer Trilogy so didn't want to miss the price. Now I am able to complete the series on the cheap too, woohoo!

Just in case people do not know about it, the site, http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/ is hosting 23 CDs worth of books and ancillary information. The 23 CDs were released by Baen and as far as I can tell from the web site, the web master is hosting them with Baen's permission. You need to download each CD in order to get to the books on the CD. Some duplicates between the CDs but still many books, in some cases entire series. You can browse an index for each CD to see what is on the CD before you download it.

Diesel hasn't updated their front page in over a year except when they had their sale. There are many books unavailable to purchase including recent releases. It seems some publishers have pulled out. A search pulls up mostly Smashwords distributed titles. The whole website appears to be on auto-pilot.

What's crazy is that the "deal" book does change (or, at least did for a while). They apparently no longer have any programmers and can't stop it, so it keeps changing on some schedule.

I don't expect them to do anything about the gift cards being eaten up by other people using the gift card loophole (since that would take a programmer).

If you buy there, definitely back up your purchases.

Maybe it's also the reason for the problems with buying books now, that are now US-only while they were available for almost every country a year ago.

True.

I quit buying there, though, when their search just stopped working (I don't know how you guys find any deals there) and their front page was left broken. Both are very bad signs in a company, if allowed to keep going for more than just a few days while they fix a problem caused by losing a key employee.
