I really hope not. I need the raised bezel to avoid changing page by mistake. When reading on my iPad or Nexus 7 I always change page by mistake. On my phone I have to make sure to hold it in a specific way and only use the volume button to change page to avoid this.

Same here. It's the main reason I chose not to wait, and just go with the newer Paperwhite. But I'm still trying to keep an open mind. Though, if I end up hating the next release (whenever that may be), then I'll probably just stock up on more 2nd gen Paperwhites to hold me over till I die.

No, it does not list Kindle 1 or Kindle 2.

There has been at least one exception. The Kindle 2 was released in February of 2009. Of course, there might never be another exception, but it has happened.

There has only been one source of the PW3 rumor, so it doesn't seem likely to be true. It almost certainly won't be soon, or there would be a lot more buzz.

No, it's the pupil. The article mentioned expansion and contraction. The pupil is what expands and contracts. The iris, being a muscle, contracts and relaxes

What I'm concerned about is compromising image quality. Remember, it is a front lit device. Where are they going to put the LEDs? There has to be a gap, even if very small, between the eink panel and the light and touch layer. Having a non raised bevel would likely mean you are moving the top layer farther away from the eink panel underneath. The pw already has worse contrast compared to the no-light kindle 4 black. This may make it worse.

Ironic that while in the LCD world they are working hard to reduce the air gap between the LCD panel and the glass and touch layer on top, in eink they started out with no gap and are now increasing it.

But hey it'll look sexy!
