Still didn't work, but as I updated my post to say, I just created a 2nd account for limited ebooks

Turns out I'd already bought the mobi version, hence the problems, that one converted using calibre had bad punctuation conversion too, guess it's an issue with the source document

fictionwise recently offered some harlequin romances in ereader format for free. I downloaded two. I'm not super "attached" to them...and they were free...but I'd like to convert them.

I used ereader2html and got the "incorrect eReader version 10 (error 1)" message. The books are definitely DRMed. I have the correct related name and credit card number. I have the most recent eReader version installed on my PC...

Can anyone help me sort out how to convert these files?

I also got the same error and I don't know enough about this to know what it means :-(
So the only help I can give you is: go to this address http://www.eharlequin.com/store.html?cid=1317 and download another format. The MSReader ones are easily converted.

If you already bought the book then you should be able to redownload it as many times as you wish in the format you purchased. For multiformat non-DRM books you can change the format for the download.

Has there been any update/development on this tool, so that it can output unsecured .pdb file? I've been doing ereader-html-unsecuredereader for a while, and it requires a lot of tinkering to get the right format.

If you understand Python well, it shouldn't be too hard to 'comment out' the decrypting section to just do the exploding. I *don't* understand it all that well, but I'm studying it in order to see where and how to do so. But if you finish the project first, I'll use yours. Maybe someone could convert it to an exe with the ability to choose whether to decrypt or just explode to html. Hmmm? Any takers?

eg, instead of:
"See anything?", rumbled the voice under the table.

I get:
See anything? rumbled the voice under the table.

Any suggestions on getting around this?

Thanks...
I'm glad I came across this thread. My eReader version of "Use of Weapons" converted the same way. All I had to do was take the html file into an html editor and replace the quote marks with straight quotes and then it converted fine to mobi.

Hi !

I'm having trouble to run the program on my Mac

python .ereader2html.pyWane.pdbName/FTFLM/tst "My own name" "12345678"

I have an error message , the second quote mark being put on red I tried various combinations and the problem is with the question mark or with ' I tried with / instead of quote marks doesn't work either...

if I take out the quote mark the number comes in red and it's written "EOL while scanning string literal"

can anyone explains what the problem is ? Thanx

I'll give a general bit of advice that is not script specific.

If you are running Python 3.x, go back to Python 2.5.x or 2.6.x. Most Python programs will not work with Python 3.x because Python 3.x changed things too much for most programs to run as is.

And get Python from http://www.python.org

Suppose a hypothetical python script, e2h, (nothing to do with DRM stripping) requires 4 arguments, then I would suggest:
Code:
python ./e2h.py ebook.pdb ebook 'My Name' '12345678'
Use single quotes, because some strings can get changed inside double quotes. For simplicity, I suggest the directory name (ebook) not include "/" (i.e. is just a simple subdirectory). The "./" in ./e2h.py guarantees that the local e2h.py is being used, although a simple e2h.py would probably also work.

Is this a typo? You should have a space after the script name.

Use single quotes on a Mac.

Ok, so actually it doesn't accept spaces... each time I insert a space (before my name and the number) it puts the next word in red... that's why I arrived to the command I gave you... I tried once again with single quotes and it is the same : the 2nd quote mark is in red with the same error message...

I really don't understand what doesn't work...

oh and it doesn'T accept the / before e2h...
