You can extract those .jpg's from the epub and load them as a separate file. Then, at least on the Kobo, you can zoom in on them for more detail - providing the .jpg's aren't crappy fuzzy rubbish to start with.

Not one click but I find it more useful than looking at the non-zoomable, tiny maps at the front. I load the .jpg map files relevant to my current book in my shortlist, so they're fairly easy to get to.

Why bother? Most maps are of such low quality in the eBook that you can't actually properly read them anyway.

Thanks Plib, I'll play around a bit in Calibre. I assume this works for non epub files as well, ie .azw, mobi?

True, I've taken to googling the maps and then printing them out. I'm a map nerd. If I ever write a book, 1/2 of the darn thing will be maps.

What? What did she waste? OH! They mean her waist!

Sorry, Harlequin, but you are AWFUL for this. Whoever is editing, and let that slip, needs to move on!
It's like "she wretched and heaved" before she throws up.

Um, retched and wretched are two very different words! They're even pronounced differently!

Although one's retch may be wretched.

Oh, my. What is wrong with the editors? Fatigue?
I have seen many mistakes like this, in many books e-books AND in print. I should start tracking & make a new thread.

We'll include the wretched wretch retching.

Curious, do you remember which publisher? I almost expect this type of thing in a self-pub...

I'm seeing more typos in trad books these days, although not usually the wrong word--mostly missing words or two words crammed together. I recently finished a Robert Crais book and I'm looking for someone who has read it because I SWEAR the wrong character name was inserted in a section. ... That also happened in another book I just read, but the name escapes me at the moment...Midnight Riot, I think it was.

The one I see all the time which really gets on my nerves is mixing up phase and faze.

Whenever I see it I actually start swearing at how badly it throws me out of the story

Me too! Library and free books for me.

I like reading series. It's maddening to run into digital holes, where several are missing in a row. Urrrrrrr

There is a solution to that problem....

Don't buy any eBooks in a series where you are unable to get the complete series where you live. All you do is tell the publisher that it is OK to have holes in a series.

Harlequin is notorious for this. I'm currently reading a PB because the digital isn't available but first in the series and third in the series are.
