I miss the "Classics" category as this is a convenient catch-all category for works of great esteem but obviously crosses many other genre. There is no right nor wrong answer; even implementing them all will not satisfy everyone. Take a look at the Blackmask.com (www.munseys.com) categories: Code:
• Action • Australia • Biography • Canada • Children • Classic • Critics • Drama • Education • Elizabethans • Enlightenment • Esoteric • Europa • Fiction • Folklore • History • Horror • Liberal Arts • Mystery • Nautical • Nonfiction • Orient Express • Periodicals • Philosophy • Poetry • Political Science • Pulp Fiction • Reference • Religion • Renaissance • Satire • Science • Science Fiction • Travel • Unclassified • Western Food for thought as I can't make the final selection of what goes and what stays! |

I've tried to edit your lists so they look ok, but they really don't. Can you please edit your post in a way that is actually readable? Columns don't work.

Tom, Dale, it's all central. We've had some internal discussions regarding the genres, and obviously it's more difficult to find a common ground than we thought (otherwise we wouldn't still be discussing this
![]() Anyways, Jon made some new suggestions and I think we should give it some thoughts in what way we can further improve our current genre selection. My only requirement is that we keep the final list somewhat small (genre lists from book stores are too specific for our purposes). |

What would be really nice is if you could have a tagging system for the ebooks library rather than categories. Tag's are so much more flexible.

'Search' on the blue bar at the top of the page, then 'tag search'.
It's a relatively new feature and only recently uploaded books are tagged. I'm hoping to tag all mine in the next month or so. |

nrapello the list you put on my side is the list of what is already defined. My list is the new list posted here even more pared down based on what genres I recall us actually having in the eBook uploads.

(Tags would solve all the "where does this book go") because real tagging lets you set up a taxonomy where a book can fall into more than one catergory rather than a fully hierachical taxonomy. (Also the Genre/Format should also be added to the tag taxonomy.) BOb |
