The radiation shields surge for 550 energy on level 4 but go up to 1100 on level 6. DHNightshadow says they go to 1375 on level 7. I'm going to get rid of some coal mines.

Maybe I should take a break until they calm down (in case I sell something that gains value). For example I considered selling the Vortex thing from level 3, but now it surges 1250 bucks for 3 points.
Real shame about coal mines. It was one sure high-gain place to use that last surge point.

Yeah, coal mines saved my ass more turns than I could count - and at level 8 or so they were giving me 2600 E so they stayed worth it a while.

Oh well, it's part of the fun of beta. I'm at L10 now and should get to 20 allies next cycle.

I can only get on late in the evening. Last night I was low on energy -- tonight still low on energy and now low on bliss.

I'm still joining a few alliances, as I can afford it. Added 2 this evening. If I haven't gotten back to you I will ASAP.

As I said, I'm not exactly a gamer, but this reminds me of some of the UNIX strategy games I used to play in the 80s. I've picked up a ton of free ebooks at Baen, and I've bought a fair share, so the two freebies I've gotten so far are fun but not life-altering.

are there no more projects to do? is 8 only for money?

I just upgraded to 7 also and was surprised to see that there were no projects.

I see they have a formula listed to show how much it costs to move an asset.

For those at 8 or above ... they are working on more projects, but so far it's just cash after that.

I've been wondering whether all those gifts of 700-1100 population are gifts in a positive sense. I suppose that after I get to level 9 and can buy a bunch of reactors, I'll want to increase my population.

I also wish I could see my allies' configurations to see if there's anything I'm missing.

Also, the items in the quick-charge area, how much faster do they recover from a surge?

Quick-charge stuff takes 2 cycles instead of 4. Population's a decent gift for higher levels, as long as you've got an Energy setup which can afford it.

I'm personally a totally neutral centrist/pragmatist and there doesn't seem to be anything I'm blocked from buying (except just by level) as has been hinted by other players with more politically directed alignments.

I took more bucks-oriented path at first (it buys stuff for projects, projects are needed to level up and get access to nicer toys) and have bliss coming out of my ears. Good to know where I can offload it.

Wonder, do we get any more grid increases? 8x8 appeared in the middle of level 5 (and was greeted with wild celebrations!)
