No, for too big reasons:

1. It's not lease. It's the purchase of a license, same as just about all IP.

2. Trying to force the rules pertaining to a thing upon another totally different thing by changing the word you use to describe it is silly. A totally meaningless misapplication of time and effort.

I know my case is not common. I've read off my PC and Mac for years using both the Microsoft Reader and Adobe Reader. When the first hand-held readers came out, like Rocketbook, I simply put the program on my PC and was happy to read on-line. My first notebook, a black macbook, was my first traveling reader. I didn't use my iPhone much for reading but when I purchased the iPad1 I used it a great deal. Then the Kindle appeared and it didn't have the best form factor but it was very good at reading text. A year later the Kindle2 came along and I got it day one and gave the older version to my mother, also a big reader. Then Kindle3 came along and iPad2. My mother got the Kindle upgrade and one of my sisters got the first Kindle and my brother got the iPad1 (he's big on gaming). When the KFire happened along winter 2011 my mother requested one so I got one for myself and as a X-mas/birthday gift for her. At work over the last 3 months there are 4 other KFires, 2 iPads. Amoung my family there are 5 of us with KFires, 5 iPads, 4 iPhones. I think many more people are reading digital files than the poll suggest but I'm sure many of these people have not leaned all the benefits of having a reader or even how to search the web for free content for their readers. I am sure that their kids will teach them over time.

Now there's a difference in perspective for you.
I asked AdBlock to block that avatar so it wouldn't annoy me while I read.

I think you are right. I own an iPad 1, an iPhone4, and a Kindle Touch. I use all of them as readers depending on the situation. My wife now has an iPad 2 and I have been able to share much of my e-Library with her. I think the advent of low cost Kindles and Nooks will expand e-reader use quite a bit. For a person who likes reading, being able to get an e-reader for under $100 begins to make economic sense.
