My second purchase, 13 books, just went through. Half a nickel, and half fifty cents. What a deal! Thank you so much for posting all about this. K to everyone!

I'm at 31, but it is good to strive for a goal. Let's see, there are how many days left in January?

I have converted the books in Calibre, and I am going to email them to my kindle and my fire. This is great!!!

Only 21 more shopping days left! <-- forget "Xmas in July"; this is clearly "Xmas in January"

Perhaps your goal could be to see how many books you can get using that $100 you would have given for a Chicago Public Library card before a) Harlequin shuts you down b) your CC company shuts you down or c) the coupon refuses to work anymore from sheer overwhelming exhaustion?

P.S. Anyone got any recommendations for which of the Harlequin Vintage old-school mystery reprint line might be best to start with? I intend to sample of course, but if anyone thought there were any especially good ones, I'll probably try those first.

ETA: Harlequin seems to have removed the direct link for the category. Apparently I clicked the wrong thing. Apparently you can't direct-link mini-series categories, only to some auto-link to run a search for it.

There were 6, and I re-found 2 of the authors: Alan Hadley and James Hadley Chase (who looks like a relation or a pseudonym). Guess I know which books I'll be spending my initial 4 coupon uses upon, sigh.

ETA 2: Fortunately all released on the same date, so also: Perry Lindsay, Dale Bogard, Tom Powers for future ease of re-finding.

Red face

I am actually exhausted. I have my iPad, laptop and Acer 7" all on at the same time. On one I check amazon reviews, the other has my library site so I only purchase what isn't being carried by my library system and the laptop has the Harlequin site for orders. My mom is coming up from Florida this Friday for two weeks so I have to get most of my orders in this week. My husband hasn't seen me since he came home. The other posts have made me laugh to know there are others like me. I love MR and so enjoy the people who send replies. Thank you all.

One thing you can do is go to Amazon and find the book in Kindle then click on the cover of the book on the buy page. It will give you the Kindle Sample of the book in a window to read. I'm one who if a book doesn't grab from the first page I move on.

So far all the ones I've done the Kindle sampling thing thus far look pretty decent in the opening.

I was just kind of hoping that since someone else mentioned the Vintage reprint line the last time there was a big HQN coupon, whoever it was might be able to say "read this one first, it's great/avoid that one, total waste of time and money" if they'd gotten that far in their TBR list.

I'll probably end up buying the lot anyway. 89 cents + tax after coupon, after all. Provided my account will co-operate for more than the first 4.

ETA: Wow, I think I know which one I can skip. Apparently the "Dale Bogard" is written with the "author" as the sleuth and has a host of UK person trying to write US hard-boiled noir thriller with no sense of proper placing or phrasing for the setting errors, according to the single Amazon review.

Though I may just get it for the lulz.

Harlequin (and Carina) charge the standard 5% GST + 7% PST which is applicable in my province. It may have something to do with the fact that Harlequin is apparently Canadian-owned.

Oh that's right your in Canada.

Well my Card just posted half my cents purchases and I can still buy so looks like they don't have a problem with it. I was eyeing it for two days now with 50 purchases pending I wasn't sure what they were going to do but now it's posted I can buy more.

I found more money too.

I thought I was done after 141 but I just saw some good reviews on dear author for Marion Lennox so off to fire up the Harlequin account again.

My bank called after my first 50 since it was the day after Christmas. Said they just wanted to make sure it was really me. I told the lady about the sale and she said she was goint to check it out when she got home

Of course all of the transactions posted in an odd order when I went to balance my checkbook the other day.

There are some "new" older titles I want releasing on Jan 17th, so I am hoping Harlequin gets them up on their site before the 31st. They had the February books available for preorder on Jan 30th, so hoping the March books will be available before the coupon expires, too.
