I agree with you. THE selling point of Ereaders are their display. And 250PPI is without doupt better than 160PPI. An better resolution would be an argument to upgrade.
And since the existent of digital cameras customers know: "The more pixels the better" Against the fact, that more pixels aren't better in every case. A. |

Hand cranked chargers vary the voltage by how fast you crnk. Crank too slow, not enough voltage to charge. Crank too fast and you are overvoltage and portection circuits kick in so you don't charge. Solar has similar problems. Yes, anything can fail. Which is why, when I travel, I have an iGo wall based charger with tips in my checked bag. I have my Charge Anywhere with tips in my carry on. And the AA based device goes in one or the other. The iGo cable and tips can also be used with any USB port on a computer or a device that converts wall power into USB port output. Thus I have backups to my backups. |

Why not?
All their devices work on 100 - 240 volts, so all you need is an adapter. I have used mine in over 24 different countries with a simple adapter. If they won't sell/ship there, PM me, we can work something out. Or come visit the US and buy while you are here. You can find them in most airports in one shop or another. |

I bought one for my 650 from Amazon and including the postage it was still only just over £5 ($7). If I had bought one from iGo the shipping alone would have been more than that. As for visiting the US, well that is always good. ![]() |

The iGo charges my old Motorola Razr (unlocked and carried for international use), my iPhone, my Palm TX, my Blue Tooth headset, my wife's SanDisk Sansa MP3 player, and any number of other small devices I might carry. ![]() So you pay more, but you get a more versatile setup. Plus the ability to use mains charging, AA batteries, built in battery, or any USB port. I even use it in my car with a cigarette lighter USB adapter. |

I think the wi-fi versions of the Kindle let you download PDFs, but the 3G-only versions do not, probably because PDFs tend to be very large, compared to ebook files.

I have the Kindle Wifi only and can't download PDFs. Your explanation makes sense though. Since the T1 only has a Wifi version hopefully Sony won't impose limits.

My iPhone came with a charger which also charges my iPod and they are the only other devices that I would need a generic charger for. My Nikon cameras and my Panasonic camcorder all use removable batteries that require a unique charger, so it would be no good for them. So at the end of the day the £5 I spent with Amazon was a lot cheaper than getting an iGo just to charge my 650. And as I'm never away from a source of mains power for any great length of time the ability to use AA batteries or the built in battery would not be a huge benefit to me. But I can see for you it must be very useful. |

I am in between somewhat excited and ambivalent. I hate seeing the brushed aluminum go, I'd rather pay more and enjoy that. Although I was lucky enough to get my 950 on sale, I was prepared to pay the full price, because I really wanted the 7" screen, which I love.
T-1, no 7" screen, plastic casing, doesn't appear to have the new ADE with hyphenation, so I can't be terribly excited about it. Mostly, it seems to be a downgrade from my 950. However, if font sizing is better, with less of a jump between small and medium, I'd like that. More font choice is also nice. OTOH, I do want to replace my existing original Nook with a second Sony device and this is priced right. I would really enjoy being able to directly download a library book. I can check one out with my Sony 950 if a hold comes in while I'm on vacation, but I can't download it. So that ability, given how long wait times for a hold can be, could be useful. I'm thinking I'll buy, and then keep the 950 at home to enjoy the wonderful 7" screen, while toting the T-1 about town. The lighter weight will be nice there, and no worries about the 950 getting stolen. Also, I could use the 650 for a lot of the proofreading I do, and save the battery on the 950, which I hope to make last for years of enjoyable reading. I do wish Sony would continue the 7" screen line, with a premium model, but it's not looking like that's happening. |

Does the T1 really not support .LRF? That's a huge drawback as I have many LRF books that often do not convert well into epub. Just like Apple Sony seems to care little about previous buyers.

I've seen it mentioned here that it does, but the Sony.ca site does not make mention of it. I hope that it supports lrf as well.

Questions on Sony PRS-T1
Questions on Sony PRS-T1
There are many features to like. Still some questions though. 1) Will it support DOC and RTF? 2) And most important. Will it support 1-page LANDSCAPE? Not the 2-page, but just the 1-page LANDSCAPE? Both for reading and the browser. |
