I want the ads. Those exclusive offers have paid for my Kindle twice over so far. Besides, the ads are only visible when I want them to be.

Better depends on the features one desires. For me:
  • price -- Kindle ($114 vs $149)
  • exclusive offers -- Kindle only
  • wireless library lending -- draw (both will have this feature)
  • MP3 audiobooks -- draw (both have this feature)
  • Audible audiobooks -- Kindle only
  • touch screen -- Sony only (possible Kindle)

For me, the killer feature of the new Sony is wireless library lending. Couple that with an audio player and a reasonable price, and this reader is the first one to make my short list for a touch screen reader. The only other possible candidate would be an entry from Amazon.
I have to admit that this is a very nice feature. Transferring library e-books from my computer to my e-reader isn't difficult but being able to wirelessly put them on an e-reader without having to wait to get to my computer is sweet.

I would be pumped if I anticipated online browsing at my library and immediately being able to check out a book. That won't be the case with a waitlist, so there's no instant gratification with having the wireless.

Sonys already have library lending. And google books downloading.
Would be surprising to see this feature in kindle, the whole point of which is vendor lock.

All ePub ereaders have library lending. I'm talking about wireless library lending where you borrow library books directly from your ereader without a computer. The new Sony T1 will have this feature and Kindles will also have this feature once Amazon implements library lending in the next few months.

Your library becomes another store to get books from without the need for a computer. Would be a very handy feature to have while traveling.

For those into library books, this is a major feature upgrade.

Stop baiting him. Do we need another "ePub rules" debate?

This is getting old. Yes, he doesn't like Amazon for locking people in and out of their walled garden. We get it already. Considering how people have been banned lately for this sort of animosity, can we please just stop it?

Huh? I must stepped on a land mine. I'm getting yelled at for stating a fact?

That's because the T1 is not using such an obsolete format. But, the T1 does have a browser and does have access to Amazon.

No more needs to be said on this in this thread.
