It would be nice, but with WiFi and 3G access to the cloud I don't see a big reason. I would rather have the ability to store personal documents on Amazon's servers and have them show up in my "archive".

Do you use your Kindle for MP3 files? I currently have 565 books on my Kindle (which is more than I can realistically read in the remainder of my life) and still have 2327MB free. I can honestly see no need for more storage space.

Actually for audio books

At first with Reading books only I thought I could never fill it,
but it fills up quickly once you load up Audible Audio books.

The Audible books for Kindle are in a larger format since they
are in a higher quality mode over the standard Audible Modes.

What compounds this is that you cannot download audio
books over 3G (only Wi-Fi or USB). So it limits your ability
to pull them down while traveling away from home.

Thanks. Yes, audiobooks would certainly explain it! I use my iPhone for them.

Audiobooks are murder on storage. Like you, I also want more storage.

Besides audiobooks, I also load up classical music. I like to listen to music when I read. Yet another reason for additional storage.

Same here.. I have the Audible software on my Android phone and I can access/download books from my Audible account via WiFi/3G. Although, I do understand not wanting to carry YAD (yet another device) for your Audio books... I think an iPod Nano is pretty small and easy to carry. Although a 16Gb nano cost a bit more than a 16GB SD card.

I prefer audiobooks over ebooks. My device of choice for audiobooks is my Sansa Clip+ (which I always have with me). Sometimes I use headphones and other times I hook it up to a cheap set of powered speakers.

Number two on the list is my iPod touch. That stays home pretty much all the time. Except for traveling (net access), I have no need to take it out of the house. The vast majority of the time, it sits in a speaker dock.

Then comes my Kindle. What I like most about it is the audio player and speakers. I can play a nice classical mix while reading. When I get tired of reading, I'll fire up an audiobook. I've never used headphones with it. Granted, the speakers aren't all that loud, they're still loud enough for my needs. Like my iPod, my Kindle stays at home.

This would be a nice outcome for me, too. I would buy a 7 inch screen e-ink Kindle Touch in a New York Minute.

I really want Amazon to add a Kindle Books Subscription service. I want to be able to sign up, for $15 per month or something, to read whatever I want from the Kindle Store. They can have their actuaries and finance people dig into average readership and think of a price where they can make a good profit, but for people who want to read a lot of books that are still in copyright, let us sign up for a subscription plan. I'd love that.

Hmm... looking at how much I spent on the books I read in 2010 (about $10/week), and the books I've read so far in 2011, (about $12/week), and bearing in mind that I'd probably still want to buy all the webscriptions from Baen, I'd probably be willing to pay $25/month for an 'all I can read' from Amazon.

But for that I'd also want to keep all the books I read. If it was just access I was buying, I'd expect it to be $15/month or less.

Does time pass at a different rate in New York?

They probably would not allow you to keep them because then people would download every book in a genre then cancel their membership, but I'd be willing to pay some money for an all-I-can-read service. It would be strange not to get to keep the books though. I've actually never re-read a book but I don't like the concept of not being able to...

This is similar to Netflix streaming. You have the full library available to you as long as you continue to pay your $8 a month. You can re-watch stuff and get access as new titles are added. But, once you stop paying you can't watch anything. You own nothing.

Zune Pass (is that still around) and Spotify have a similar service for music. All you can eat for a monthly fee... but you don't own anything. (Well actually Zune pass included 10 songs that you "buy" per month.)

However, at the rate I read, about 1 book a month I doubt the price would be worth it for me.
