I am going to point out that the Wifi Kindle is currently delayed in shipping due to none being at the warehouose.

I think Kindle is having a very good Christmas season.

I think that the approach taken by the likes of Apple and B&N where they have taken epub and slapped different drm onto it is far worse in the long run as needlessly confuses matters and the adobe and b&n drm working together in the future will be no use at all to all the various devices that don't get a firmware update. Incidentally, if Amazon did move to epub, isn't it almost certain that they would do the exact same thing as these companies and put their existing drm wrapper around epub instead of mobi?

Personally, the way I look at things is that there is no real difference between drm content regardless of where you buy it from or for what device, it is annoying that it exists at all and if you know how then it makes sense to remove it from your books.

I have just recently bought myself a kindle to replace my old sony, this wasn't due to thinking one format was superior to another, it was down to the price and features of the actual readers with the synching of pages with phone/ipad apps being a more useful feature to me than paying extra to get a touchscreen.

An odd choice of company to single out when they just had another record quarter, they have gone from being the only player in a small market to a major player in a vastly increased market regardless of how gadget blogs would like to portray them.
