No, you need to get it to the Book Designer 4.0 program before you enter the regsvr32 bit.
My memory is that you called the folder that you entered BD in "Book Designer". But you have a file in there called "Book Designer 4.0" and you need to get to that point before you enter the instructions. So make it CD \Book Designer\Book Designer 4.0 and hit enter. If the command prompt accepts that and gives that path back to you on the next line, then enter the regsvr32 bit. Jim |

Oh, and be sure that when you've added the instructions, to hit enter again. Then you can exit. If the registration was successful, it'll tell you that.

Well, you've gone beyond my very limited expertise, I'm afraid. Like you, I made a folder on the C Drive to substitute for Program Files and called it BD Program (Didn't want to confuse myself as to where I was, so didn't use "Book Designer"). When I installed Book Designer, I installed it inside the folder BD Program and when I open BD Program, what I see is another folder called "Book Designer 4.0". You need to get to Book Designer 4.0 before you can perform the registration, I'm pretty sure.
You said in one of your posts that when you installed BD, and tried to make a book, it made the proper folders for Sony Reader and LastFile. What did you look in to ascertain that? Jim |

Something that just occurred to me. When you installed Book Designer 4.0 (before you did anything with the update) did you unzip the folder in your "Book Designer" folder? If so, that might explain what you've got now.
I did that myself the first time and ended up uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. That first file you should just unzip it in your download file. When you double click on the installation icon, it'll ask you where you want it installed and that's when you should direct it to your Book Designer folder. It'll create another folder inside Book Designer called "Book Designer 4.0". |

I sure as heck don't want to install this again. reading Brians instructions, I think I am in the right place, some have the folder names bookdesigner40 mine is just bookdesigner. I have these subfolders he mentions in there. ++++++ 4. Create the folder "Sony Reader", and "LastFile" in the Book Designer 4.0 folder. 5. Open a Command Prompt, as Administrator. (Right-click on the menu item and select run as administrator.) Go to the Book Designer 4.0 directory, and run the following command: regsvr32 GflAx.dll. This dll was copied to the BD by the update, and needs to be registered to get graphics (such as browse for a cover page) to work properly. __________________ |

Here is what I did Jim, so I am pretty positive now my bookdesigner folder is your bookdesigner40 folder........ The books I did made are within those folders listed, sony reader and there was something in lastfile as well........ so I am pretty sure I am in the right place, FOR MY INSTALLATION...... I will probably go ahead and do that registry thing, I guess it can't hurt, or just won't do it.......
How I installed, taken from another page. +++ Okay I installed Bookdesigner and it's working for me.......... Created a folder other than the default, so I made it c:/Bookdesigner I unzipped the .msi file into that folder Right clicked to install .msi file After it was installed and the icons were sitting on my desktop I unzipped and extracted all files from that most recent update into that folder. Then I double clicked to start the program, I had always gotten a weird message about an update and it will do so and so, it never made sense to me but I clicked okay, didn't have any choice, it did it's thing....... loaded up with a test book. It had the sony setup there. Loaded up a book from my books and told it to Make a book, made all 600 and whatever pages worth........ I have AUC or whatever the heck that thing is ON! I didn't download any special files from microsoft......... I did get this new puter yesterday and I did get all the microsoft updates.... I just ran another through before I clicked post......... It is working for me guys and gals. Did nothing special, just didn't put it in the directory it wanted to go...... |

I don't know where everyone else is.
![]() ![]() The main problem with the way you installed the file, and the reason I did it over, was that you get installation files and program operation files intermingled. If you go to the command prompt and just put CD \Book Designer and then hit enter, does it accept that as a good path? (It'll echo the path on the next line if so and tell you if not) If so, maybe the first thing to do is to try to enter the regsvr32 bit there and hit enter again and see if the computer tells you the registration was accepted. If so, you may be OK. If not, and it were me, I'd uninstall the program and do it again. And if you do that, look in the Book Designer file and delete any folders it leaves behind (in my case there were 4 or 5 still in there.) You want a clean folder to start out with. The unstall didn't seem to hurt anything and only took a minute. Jim |

okay so we know this. One file need to be unregistered and registered. Second file needs to be registered under the bookdesigner folder (whatever it may be).......because some have installed it under c:\program\bookdesigner whatever............... and some have made their own special directory whatever they decided to name it...... guess it could have been named pain in the arse as well LMAO.........so with those and that download from microsoft, I think this thing will be nipped in the bud........ might need to be written a couple of ways but it's workable..............
now my brain is tired <BEG> |
