It counts as one since we can only vote for each device once.

Yup, sorry about that, Prof. When I opened the poll, I did opt for multiple choices in the tick boxes, but it doesn't appear to work. I'm not sure how that will reflect as we go over the busy Christmas period. Perhaps one of our admirable mods could help. Best wishes. Neil

I have no problem with that. It skews the results but this is not exactly a scientific poll.

I bought a Pandigital Novel (Black) this year. Was going to buy a Nook Classic, but thanks to Best Buy screwing up the shipping (I live in Louisiana, they shipped it to Minnesota!!!) I canceled that and got the Pandigital...

Multiple choices work, but only once for each device ticked... As you can see, I have many 'other' (but not all bought this year)

Anybody for a re-write of the poll software??? (Not me, I've retired from that stuff!)

And now, as of today, I have acquired an iPad. Can't show that either. Oh well.

I've noticed when greeting newbie MR members over the past week or two that there seems to be a very high proportion of new Kindle owners and others expecting a Kindle for Christmas. It'll be interesting to see what happens in this poll over the latter part of this month with Kindle already having edged ahead of Sony recently. Cheers. Neil

Add in my Nook Color and it's Nook first which broke, then Kindle 3 which I sold to buy a Nook Color.

Point taken, Boxcorner. What I was wondering is if there's likely to be a significant swing from devices bought this year by established members here with some experience over the period when many, many devices are likely to be gifted by those who know little about readers. I suspect that the hype that's surrounded Kindle to the extent that the brand name is often used by the uninitiatied to describe any device (as with hoover, scotch tape, rollerblade etc) will soar ahead based largely on the widespread use of the word itself rather than informed choice. Cheers. Neil
